A Lambda Literary Award Finalist from the author of Don’t Let Me Go. “[A] gripping tale of love, hate of differences and owning up to who you are.”—VOYA Robert Westfall’s life is falling apart—everywhere but in math class. That’s the one place where problems always have a solution. But in the world beyond high school, his father is terminally ill, his mother is squabbling with his interfering aunts, his boyfriend is unsupportive, and the career path that’s been planned for him feels less appealing by the day. Robert’s math teacher, Andrew McNelin, watches his best student floundering, concerned but wary of crossing the line between professional and personal. Gradually, Andrew becomes Robert’s friend, then his confidante. As the year progresses, their relationship—in school and out of it—deepens and changes. And as hard as he tries to resist, Andrew knows that he and Robert are edging into territory that holds incalculable risks for both of them. J.H. Trumble, author of the acclaimed Don’t Let Me Go, explores a controversial subject with extraordinary sensitivity and grace, creating a deeply human and honest story of love, longing, and unexpected connection. “The heart of the novel lies in the complicated, nuanced love between student and teacher. Andrew and Robert find solace in each other, daring to risk the consequences of their relationship being discovered.”—Publishers Weekly “Moving . . . poignant . . . characters you can’t help but root for.”—RT Book Reviews (4½ stars) “A page-turner.”—Instinct Magazine “The story of Andrew and Robert is one not to be forgotten.”—Chris Verleger, contributor, EDGE on th

2021 PROSE Award Finalist, Education Practice and Theory Category In the thoroughly revised second edition of Start Where You Are, But Don’t Stay There, H. Richard Milner IV addresses the knowledge and insights required on the part of teachers and school leaders to serve students of color. Milner focuses on a crucial issue in teacher training and professional education: the need to prepare teachers for the racially diverse student populations in their classrooms. The book, anchored in real world experiences, centers on case studies that exemplify the challenges, pitfalls, and opportunities facing teachers in diverse classrooms. The case studies—of teachers in urban and suburban settings—are presented amid current discussions about race and teaching. In addition, the second edition includes a new chapter dedicated to opportunity gaps in education and an expanded discussion of how Opportunity Centered Teaching can address these gaps. Start Where You Are, But Don’t Stay There strives to help educators in the fight for social justice, equity, inclusion, and transformation for all students. It is a book urgently needed in today’s increasingly diverse classrooms.

Will any company hire me? Successes came: A lovely wife, two beautiful adopted babies, enjoyable work, friendships, health, and joy.

Proud of his roots in Brooklyn and New York City Oreste Renato Rondinella was Professor of Educational Studies (presently Professor Emeritus) at Seton Hall University, South Orange, N.J. He decided to utilize his knowledge and passion in teaching to satisfy a long time desire to disprove the axiom “those who can’t do, teach!” He wanted to make a statement that this wasn’t true for those dedicated to the teaching profession. In 1983 Oreste returned to school for a post-doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Subsequently, he directed two Marriage and Family Centers, Allegra Counseling Centers that were successful. He continued to teach for about ten years during this time. However, Oreste began to experience a great hunger and desire to write and retired as a professor- psychotherapist to write full time. He has completed three books: Sin Is Necessary, Illusion vs. Reality---Sounds Within and Without, and is completing Intrigue in Rome. Dr. Rondinella has traveled extensively in the last twenty-five years and conducted research and interviews that contributed to his books. As of October 1, 2003, Dr. Rondinella has resumed his independent practice of marriage and family therapy including individual psychotherapy.
