As the most influential anthropologist of his generation, Claude Lévi-Strauss left a profound mark on the development of twentieth-century thought. The first paper, "The Grid", dates from 1963 and is a discussion of great clarity about one of the author's most widely-used conceptual tools; it predates his more discursive paper of the same title (published in Two Papers) by several years. Freud, Klein and Bion have provided the most relevant and substantial contributions to psychoanalytical theory and praxis. Klein was very much Freudian and Bion was both.
