Wordsmithery, Second Edition, offers an apprenticeship in composing based on the practices of working writers, showing students what approaches, attitudes, and strategies those writers use to successfully complete work-in-progress. It presents a range of strategies illustrated with student and professional examples that work not only for career writers but also for people engaged in academic or work-related writing. Unlike other books in its field, Wordsmithery incorporates a wide range of authors' approaches, sample essays, and student examples to succinctly illustrate methods useful at each stage of the writing process. The text is based on the premise that the same techniques effective for experienced writers will benefit novice writers. The workshop approach presented offers ample opportunity for interaction. Wordsmithery focuses on the individual elements of writing from preliminary preparation techniques to presentation of the text to the outside world and demonstrates practical methods useful in both academic and personal writing.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the Second Joint International Conference on Serious Games, JCSG 2016, held in Brisbane, QLD, Australia, in September 2016. This conference bundles the activities of the International Conference on Serious Games Development and Applications, SGDA, and the Conference on Serious Games, GameDays. The total of 36 full papers and 5 short papers was carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The papers were organized in topical sections named: health, well-being and accessibility; education, learning and training; science, nature and heritage; design, development and analysis; poster papers; exhibits.

Geography is a subject that throughout its history has been dominated by men; men have undertaken the heroic explorations that form the mythology of its foundation, men have written most of its texts, and, as many feminist geographers have remarked, men's interests have structured what counts as legitimate geographical knowledge. This book offers a sustained examination of the masculinism of contemporary geographical discourses. Drawing on the work of feminist theories about the intersection of power, knowledge and subjectivity, Rose discusses different aspects of the discipline's masculinism in a series of essays that bring influential approaches in recent geography together with feminist accounts of the space of the everyday, the notion of a sense of place, and views of landscape. In the final chapter, she examines the spatial imagery of a variety of feminists in order to argue that the geographical imagination implicit in feminist discussions of the politics of location is one example of a geography that does not deny difference in the name of a universal masculinity.
