A Global Look To The Local

This book examines local leadership and policy changes as a result of globalisation. The author identifies what behaviours are facilitating the connection of local economies to the global economy and what local structures enable or inhibit the activity. It presents positive indicators from empirical research and three local case studies, that a dyadic arrangement of transformational leadership and a legislative-activist structure are more likely to connect a local economy to opportunities in the global economy. Further, the research presents a new measure for behaviour and structure to deduce the potential for local participation in a global economy. The book is based in and expands several fields of study, and will appeal to scholars of international relations, economics, public management, immigration and politics.

There are now many books on postcolonial theory, yet relatively few of them gather together sustained, dynamic and insightful analyses of visuality, art and art history outside of hegemonic Euro-American themes and concerns. Global and Local Art Histories explores what it means to have a global and local experience of art. The 15 essays published here suggest ways of interpreting works of art from a broad range of cultural perspectives, many of them transcultural. Here are voices contesting concepts of history and culture, evaluating and exploring global and local identities in a changing world. Because of the variety of different approaches and cultural perspectives that Global and Local Art Histories brings together, the book presents a unique opportunity to question what we mean by that dangerously globalising category: “the work of art” and “art history” exploring “g-local” approaches that challenge such falsely universalising rubrics.

This brilliantly original book dismantles the underlying assumptions that drive the decisions made by companies and governments throughout the world, to show that our shared narrative of the global economy is deeply flawed. If left unexamined, they will lead corporations and countries astray, with dire consequences for us all. For the past fifty years or so, the global economy has been run on three big assumptions: that globalization will continue to spread, that trade is the engine of growth and development, and that economic power is moving from the West to the East. More recently, it has also been taken as a given that our interconnectedness—both physical and digital—will increase without limit. But what if all these ideas are wrong? What if everything is about to change? What if it has already begun to change but we just haven't noticed? Increased automation, the advent of additive manufacturing (3D printing, for example), and changes in shipping and environmental pressures, among other factors, are coming together to create a fast-changing global economic landscape in which the rules are being rewritten—at once a challenge and an opportunity for companies and countries alike.

We are very pleased to introduce the proceedings of the International Conference on Latest Trends in Engineering and Technology [ICLTET 2023]. Papers were well presented in the conference in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning, IOT, Communication Networks, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Nano Material Research, Business Management and many more to arouse a high level of interest. The presented papers maintained the high promise suggested by the written abstracts and the program was chaired in a professional and efficient way by the session chair who were selected for their expertise in the subject. The number of delegates was also highly gratifying, showing the high level of interest in the subject. This Proceeding provides the permanent record of what was presented. They indicate the state of development at the time of writing of all aspects of this important topic and will be invaluable to all academicians and researchers in the field for that reason. Finally, it is appropriate that we record our thanks to our fellow members of the Technical Organizing Committee for encouraging participation from those areas. We are also indebted to those who served as session chair and reviewers, without their support, the conference could not have been the success that it was. An Introduction to Global Media for the Twenty-First Century provides a thorough introduction to the field of global media today.
