The Active Shooter Incident Management (ASIM) Basic course is an introductory 4-hour performance level direct delivery course designed to improve incident management and integration of law enforcement, fire and EMS responders to active shooter events. The course provides a model framework for use by law enforcement, fire and EMS to manage active shooter event response to improve time to threat neutralization, medical intervention, and survivability of victims. The framework utilizes the Active Shooter Incident Management Checklist, a validated active shooter event response checklist integrating best practices guided by principles of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC), and Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response (ALERRT).The course is an awareness course to provide participants with functional knowledge of a basic complexity Active Shooter Event, as compared to the ASIM Advanced curriculum which provides participants with knowledge of Basic through Moderate Complexity events and Complex Coordinated Attacks (CCAs). This course is available as a Train the Trainer (TtT) program in two and three day delivery models, training (5) instructors (2-day) and (10) instructors (3-day) in the delivery of 4 hour programs focusing on basic complexity events.
