Community supported agriculture (CSA) is a new idea in farming which has been gaining momentum since its introduction to the U.S. from Europe in the mid-1980s. Consumers interested in safe food & farmers seeking stable markets for their crops join together in economic partnership. CSA consists of a community of individuals who pledge support to a farm operation so that the farmland becomes the community¿s farm, with the growers & consumers providing mutual support & sharing the risks & benefits of food production. All CSAs have a shared commitment to building a more local & equitable agricultural system.
