Book & CD. This book offers spiritual practices that have their roots in ancient tradition and have been adapted and refined to be relevant and accessible to anyone interested in spiritual unfolding. Utilising word, image, sound, and silence to engage our cognitive, emotional, and physical intelligences, the practices encourage and celebrate the ongoing process of spiritual transformation. The practices are designed to expand our repertoire of ways to be present to ourselves, to each other, to the cosmos, and to the Holy -- in other words, ways to do our part in serving the Great Work. This practical book is illustrated with black and white images by the author. It is small enough to carry around in a shoulder bag or jacket pocket, and comes with an audio CD containing background music for the practices, timed intervals for meditation / contemplation / prayer, and verbal instructions. You will find it easy to begin the practice of engaging your whole self in your spiritual journey.

Language learning also implies the acquisition of a set of phonetic rules and prosodic contours which define the accent in that language. While often considered as merely accessory, accent is an essential component of psychological identity as it embodies information on origin, culture, and social class. Speaking with a non-standard (foreign) accent is not inconsequential because it may negatively impact communication and social adjustment. Nevertheless, the lack of a formal definition of accent may explain that, as compared with other aspects of language, it has received relatively little attention until recently. During the past decade there has been increasing interest in the analysis of accent from a neuroscientific perspective. This e-book integrates data from different scientific frameworks. The reader will find fruitful research on new models of accent processing, how learning a new accent proceeds, and the role of feedback on accent learning in healthy subjects. In addition, information on accent changes in pathological conditions including developmental and psychogenic foreign accent syndromes as well as the description of a new variant of foreign accent syndrome is also included. It is anticipated that the articles in this e-book will enhance the understanding of accent as a linguistic phenomenon, the neural networks supporting it and potential interventions to accelerate acquisition or relearning of native accents.

While linguistic theory is in continual flux as progress is made in our ability to understand the structure and function of language, one constant has always been the central role of the word. On looking into words is a wide-ranging volume spanning current research into word-based morphology, morphosyntax, the phonology-morphology interface, and related areas of theoretical and empirical linguistics. The 26 papers that constitute this volume extend morphological and grammatical theory to signed as well as spoken language, to diachronic as well as synchronic evidence, and to birdsong as well as human language.

Much attention has been paid by experts to the raw creative process. But, says Bonni Goldberg, to be fulfilled as a writer, you have to do more than write. How do you get ideas? How do you shape those ideas as creatively as possible? And how can you share your work with others once you've created it? The answers to these questions can be found in three key aspects of writing that often get short shrift: * Percolation: what takes place before a first draft is written; * Revision: the writer's role after the initial draft; and * Going Public: the writer's mission once the writing is done. In Beyond the Words, Goldberg presents anecdotes, essays, examples, and exercises to help writers realize and maintain balance, flow, and health in their work by being mindful of the whole writing process. Supplying tools for invoking maximum creativity through and beyond a first draft, she offers motives, options, and encouragement to help writers become more passionate and grounded in their writing lives.
