True or False: Princeton's Director of Admissions hacked into Yale's secured admissions website to find out who Yale had accepted and rejected. Boston College's average SAT score is up to 1370 and Boston University's average SAT score is up to 1320. Carnegie Mellon offers spots on a priority wait-list to students who send in cash and most of these students get admitted. Well, it's all true. An FBI investigation traced Yale's hacked website back to the computer of Princeton's Director of Admissions, Stephen LeMenager. Boston College's average SAT score is the same as Cornell's and close to Penn's (both Ivies). Carnegie Mellon does have a "priority" wait-list-it costs $400 to be on it and the admissions rate is 95%. Welcome to the circus. Dazed and Confused. Students see the college list published by their high school's guidance department listing every acceptance and rejection from the prior year. Next to each entry is a GPA, a SAT score and the number of AP classes taken. The list is usually ordered from highest to lowest GPA. The first entry: 4.19 (unweighted), 1430 SAT, 7 AP classes, Princeton-rejected, Yale-rejected, Harvard-rejected, Stanford-rejected, Columbia-rejected, Vassar-accepted. Ouch. Scan down the list looking for Yale. Did anyone get into Yale last year? Down at the ninth entry: 3.93, 1450 SAT, 6 AP classes, Brown-accepted, Yale-accepted, Georgetown-accepted. Okay, anyone else? Scan down to the twenty-second entry: 3.88, 1560 SAT, 7 AP classes, Yale-accepted, Duke-accepted, William and Mary-rejected. This doesn't make any sense, thinks the student. Many of the students with the best grades didn't get into any top colleges and still others were rejected at colleges ranked lower than the colleges to which they were accepted. Welcome to the world of college admissions. Ever wondered what a private counselor tells an Upper East Side family for $10,000? The secrets are in College Admissions Trade Secrets. College Admissions Trade Secrets is a straight forward guide to: Top 7 Lies Colleges Tell The Real Scoop Behind Acceptance Rates Things That Really Matter When Comparing Colleges How to Write a Great Essay and Prep for a Great Interview Common Mistakes that Result in Rejection Last Minute Tips for Seniors A Scandalous Examination of Harvard's Course Catalogue, Penn's View Book, and NYU's Faculty How Anyone Can Avoid Being in the Pool of Applicants with the Lowest Acceptance Rate

Deadlines are absolute. ---------------------- You will learn never-before disclosed truths about the college admissions process, including: - the role of "Lifetime Value" of the student - how much time is actually spent on top applicants' applications - why your student needs to think like an entrepreneur ---------------------- About the author: I’m far from a control-freak, but I’m obsessed with your child’s success; after a lifetime in academia, I know what I’m doing and I know it will work! Here’s why: My Education Addiction 🤓 - I grew up with the Webster's Unabridged Dictionary as the centerpiece on our dining-room table. We did not have a TV. My dad was a Shakespeare professor (U Penn, Ph.D. and U of M, BA and M.A.), and my mother had a degree in library science (M.A. and BA, U of M). I "helped" my father research in the university library from the time I was about ten. - I graduated from University High, Valedictorian. - I spent a year studying at the Université de Nantes and Paris IV (la Sorbonne), where I became fluent in French. - I graduated magna cum laude from Illinois Wesleyan. - I graduated magna cum laude from University of Georgia with my Masters in French Literature. - I was accepted to all ten Ph.D. programs to which I applied, including: the University of Chicago, Duke, the University of North Carolina, Vanderbilt, UCLA, and Berkeley. - I was one of two students accepted to Northwestern’s French Literature program, which ranked number two in the nation at that time. - I won multiple grants, including a Mellon Fellowship, to do research in Paris and at Middlebury. I presented my research internationally, including at the University of Glasgow, Yale, and Leeds. - I won one of ten Dissertation Year Fellowships awarded by the NU Graduate School. - I published articles and worked as an assistant editor for 18th-Century Studies, an A-list journal. - I was on the admissions outreach team for the Graduate School. - I received my Ph.D. from Northwestern University, summa cum laude. - I worked helping North Shore high-school students with college admissions and applications. - I taught for the Evanston homeschool group. - I taught literature, humanities, and French at the University of Washington and Seattle University. - I founded “Preparing for the Profession,” which mentored graduate students in finding a job after graduation. - I worked with private clients on admissions. - I gave talks nationally and internationally, published articles, and spoke at local events. I served as Vice President of the Faculty and Staff Association for the College of Arts and Sciences and Vice President for Seattle University's chapter of the AAUP (American Association of University Professors). - I served on grant committees and read Fulbright applications. I worked on the Core Curriculum Committee to redesign the Core at SU. - I taught at an elite, private high school in Seattle. I also worked as an Advisor to seniors. I served on multiple committees, including selecting students for the National Honor Society. - I founded a college-prep center, Uplift Writing, in Seattle. I designed the curriculum and hired tutors for ACT and SAT test prep. I worked with high schoolers from around Seattle on their college applications. I also worked remotely with clients from Chicago and the East Coast. - I decided to focus exclusively on admissions, and separated my admissions consultancy from my tutoring and test-prep center, which I sold. - While my clientele had been largely word-of-mouth, using Zoom, I am now able to serve students from anywhere in the United States or abroad. contact me at [email protected] for a free consultation or book directly on my webpage, ivyadmissiosnprep.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I’ve been told I’m the “best kept secret in admissions” by my clients and, at the same time, that they’ve heard my name from several people who think they are the only ones who have given their friend my contact information. My favorite compliment was being called “an honorary Korean,” because I hold education as such a pillar of identity and value in my own family heritage. As former clients will tell you, I treat every student I work with as though they were my own. My practice is built on word-of-mouth and years-long relationships that turn into friendships as we celebrate the success of the children together. My students go on to celebrate the next four years of their lives with confidence and great success.
