Conceptual Modeling Er 2008

Conceptual modeling has long been recognized as the primary means to enable so- ware development in information systems and data engineering. Conceptual modeling provides languages, methods and tools to understand and represent the application domain; to elicit, conceptualize and formalize system requirements and user needs; to communicate systems designs to all stakeholders; and to formally verify and validate systems design on high levels of abstraction. The International Conference on Conceptual Modeling provides a premiere forum for presenting and discussing current research and applications in which the major emphasis is on conceptual modeling. Topics of interest span the entire spectrum of conceptual modeling including research and practice in areas such as theories of concepts and ontologies underlying conceptual modeling, methods and tools for - veloping and communicating conceptual models, and techniques for transforming conceptual models into effective implementations. The scientific program of ER 2008 featured several activities running in parallel. The core activity was the presentation of the 33 research papers published in this volume, which were selected by a large Program Committee (PC) Co-chaired by Qing Li, Stefano Spaccapietra and Eric Yu. We thank the PC Co-chairs, the PC members and the additional referees for the hard work done, often within a short time. Thanks are also due to Moira Norrie from ETH Zurich, Oscar Pastor from the Universitat Politècnica de València, and Amit Sheth from the Wright State Univ- sity for accepting our invitation to present keynotes.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 27th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, ER 2008, held in Barcelona, Spain, in October 2008. The 33 revised full papers presented together with 18 demo papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 178 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on novel semantics; ontology; patterns; privacy, compliance, location; process management and design; process models; queries; similarity and coherence; space and time; system design; translation, transformation, and search.

This volume constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 17th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, ER '98, held in Singapore, in November 1998. The 32 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 95 submissions. The book is divided into chapters on conceptual modeling and design, user interface modeling, information retrieval on the Web, semantics and constraints, conceptual modeling tools, quality and reliability metrics, industrial experience in conceptual modeling, object-oriented database management systems, data warehousing, industrial case studies, object-oriented approaches.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 30th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, ER 2011, held in Brussels, Belgium, in October/November 2011. The 25 revised full papers presented together with 14 short papers and three keynotes were carefully reviewed and selected from 157 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on modeling goals and compliance; human and socio-technical factors; ontologies; data model theory; model development and maintainability; user interfaces and software classification; evolution, propagation and refinement; UML and requirements modeling; views, queries and search; requirements and business intelligence; MDA and ontology-based modeling; process modeling; panels.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 32nd International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, ER 2013, held in Hong Kong, China, in November 2013. The 23 full and 17 short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 148 abstracts and 126 full papers submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on modeling and reasoning, fundamentals of conceptual modeling, business process modeling, network modeling, data semantics, security and optimization, ontology-based modeling, searching and mining, conceptual modeling and applications, demonstration papers.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 29th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, ER 2010, held in Vancouver, BC, Canada, in November 2010. The 32 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 147 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on business process modeling; requirements engineering and modeling 1; requirements engineering and modeling 2; data evolution and adaptation; operations on spatio-temporal data; demos and posters; model abstraction, feature modeling, and filtering; integration and composition; consistency, satisfiability and compliance checking; using ontologies for query answering; and document and query processing.

Topics of interest span the entire spectrum of conceptual modeling, including research and practice in areas such as theories of concepts and ontologies underlying conceptual modeling, methods and tools for developing and communicating conceptual models, and techniques for transforming conceptual models into effective implementations. The scientific program of ER 2009 features several activities running in parallel.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, ER '97, held in Los Angeles, California, USA, in November 1997. The 32 revised full papers presented in the book were carefully selected from a total of 93 submissions. Also included are two full invited papers.The volume is divided in topical sections on automated design, temporal modeling, languages, activity modeling, applied modeling, object-oriented modeling, theoretical issues in modeling, experience and applications, distributed systems, integration, and tools.
