Delver Magic Book I Sanctum S Breach

A rolling tremor passes through the land of Uton signaling a return of long absent magic as well as an ancient evil that accompanies it. Ryson Acumen, purebred delver, senses the changes and begins his explorations to discover the source behind the upheaval. In his investigations, he learns that legends he considered fables hold more truth than fantasy. The delver encounters elves and learns the Sphere of Ingar, a talisman that captured all magical energies long ago, is free from its tomb in Sanctum Mountain. As violent, evil creatures return to shred the very fabric of reality, the sphere gains awareness and chooses to spew corrupted magical energies to obliterate all life. The sphere must be destroyed, but it rests within Sanctum, a hollow mountain with a single path to its center. The way to the sphere remains defended by devices created long ago, forged by members of each race to thwart entry to the mountain's core. Those that wish to defeat the sphere must not only overcome these barriers, they must conquer the mistrust which has flourished during the long period of separation. Human, elf, dwarf, algor and delver must reunite to defeat the obstacles that now protect the sphere. Once inside Sanctum, representatives of each race face the secrets of the ages that once undone will change their lives forever.

The Sphere of Ingar has been destroyed and pure magic now flows freely throughout the land of Uton. Magic casters arise as do the dark creatures that need magic to exist in this land. As the land changes and its inhabitants adapt, a growing wind of rebellion leads to potential disaster for all the races. The dwarf queen, Yave, declares war on the algors, blaming the desert dwellers for the tragedy which took the life of her eldest son. She leads a revolution against what remains of her own family. Dwarf separatists eager to assert their own superiority follow blindly as she begins her quest for revenge. Ryson Acumen, the pure bred delver who saved the land from Ingar's sphere, attempts to intervene. In response, human towns are attacked by the dwarf army of Dunop. Raids against the elves lead to escalated tensions. Even as the algors plan a response to protect their very existence, the elves threaten to unleash their own weapon of sheer terror against the dwarf city. The overriding need that brought the races together to defeat Ingar is gone as the land of Uton fractures into chaos.

Informed by a perceptive spell caster that gaps within the currents of magic reveal an ominous threat, Ryson Acumen begins his search for an individual capable of seizing magical influence. As the delver explores the forest of Dark Spruce, he discovers a curious trail of elves and dark creatures. He faces a perplexing wave of magical disturbances which encourage him to continue his pursuit even as they present challenging obstacles to overcome. While he remains on the trail, Ryson faces the convergence of another threat. In Demonsheol, Rul Saattan allows a human wizard to shape events within the demon breeding grounds. In an attempt to topple the forces of destiny, the demon lord unleashes the chaos of free will across his domain, and the structures of fate begin to tremble at the prospect. Though barriers around the realm restrict Rul's influence, they cannot contain the desires of a frustrated wizard intent on destroying the delver. When Ryson ultimately confronts both the demon lord and the wizard, he faces more than a test of faith. He is forced to consider the potentially conflicting roles of choice and destiny. The delver cannot dismiss the mysteries placed into his consciousness, but uncovering the answers threatens to leave him broken and vulnerable to the influence of the demon lord

Dr. Jim Sagacity is a Marriage and Family Therapist that has the special ability to see deep inside other people. He can see their souls. He volunteers at a Philadelphia hospital in order to be as close to death as possible, for during most fatalities, he watches the spirit of the recently deceased depart this world in a display of pure joyous wonder. Throughout his life, he celebrates his ability in secret, focusing on the sheer elation of these transitions, until one day he is shown that not all souls are willing or able to take that all important step to the next realm. Weaker souls, small and dim to Jim’s eyes, face a darker fate. With a new understanding of what death might mean, Dr. Sagacity joins a group of other specially gifted people in hopes of assisting those spirits he believes lack the strength to move on to a new existence. Pooling their incredible and supernatural talents, they pinpoint those individuals that are facing death in the very near future. Jim Sagacity experiences the complexities of working with others focused beyond the constraints of this physical realm, but within a society attentive to the normal realities of death, despair and even murder. He finds that not everyone shares his views, that the truth can often be distorted, and that the world he lives in can be a very difficult and dangerous place.

Ryson Acumen battles frustration and fatigue as another struggle unfolds before him. A growing conflict threatens to engulf Uton from the western shores to the eastern plains. Illusions abound after the magic from an erratic sorceress alters the corridors of life and death, and the delver faces internal doubts as well as horrific monsters. A treacherous creation first hunts the dark creatures of a nightmare realm, but the danger quickly falls back upon Uton. Forced to choose between divergent paths, Ryson must rely on others to defend the person he cares about the most. He can only hope his friends are able to defeat a new menace that revives old fears. While the delver ventures into the Lacobian Desert, cliff behemoths vow to protect his wife, Linda, just as the elf guard, Holli Brances, leads spell casters against an unknown and dangerous foe in the abandoned town of Pinesway. Even the powerful wizard, Enin, enters the clash in hopes of ending the conflict before too many lives are lost. It is ultimately up to Ryson Acumen to defeat his inner demons and to find the answers that will save Uton and all its inhabitants.

Ryson Acumen wakes one morning to find his hometown surrounded by elves. A thrust of magic places the town of Burbon under the cover of a powerful spell, and only when the human village is completely sealed off does the elf leader, Standish Loftber, reveal his demands. Loftber knows that the human wizard, Jure, has taken possession of elf essence, and the elves will not leave until they retrieve what is rightfully theirs. Jure refuses to simply abandon what he views as a precious gift. He vows to retain the essence and swears to strive against any attempt to remove the magical energy. In hopes of escaping the town, the wizard enlists the help of his friends and companions. Ryson and Linda Acumen, Holli Brances, and Enin work with the wizard to break through the elf spell of distortion. The delver leads the group, utilizing his skills to deceive the elves and conceal any hint of a trail. They flee to the dark lands and struggle to find the one path which will steer them clear of a grave and costly confrontation with the elves.

A wizard capable of casting in shadow magic seeks out Ryson Acumen in hopes of examining the Sword of Decree. The magic caster believes there is a secret hidden in the sword. Through the power of shadow, he tells the delver he can examine the history of the blade's enchantment. When Ryson decides to investigate further, he ventures into the heart of Dark Spruce Forest. He follows a trail of magic unaware of the deception behind the tale. When he returns home, he finds the town of Burbon under siege by an army of goblins and an old enemy waiting to exact revenge. Still believing the sincerity of the magic caster, Ryson follows the wizard's advice in hopes of removing the dark creatures from the land. He realizes too late that the spell caster has deceived him and that the welfare of the land has been placed in jeopardy. His friends are threatened and face incredible levels of destruction. Even the spirit of Sy Fenden is endangered. Realizing that escape is impossible, Ryson turns to an unexpected guardian and forces a confrontation with the spell caster.

Beyond the land of Uton where Ryson Acumen makes his home, the barrier which once surrounded Demonsheol has fallen. Demons can move freely from one realm to another and return to their homeland without consequence. The destruction of the barrier allows one demon taskmaster to make a startling choice which drastically impacts both realms. Turmoil does not end with the actions of a single beast. In Dark Spruce Forest, a seemingly innocent experiment turns into tragedy. The elf camp is thrown into chaos and the wizard Jure falls into a state of absolute despair. Unable to cope with the calamity, the wizard begins a journey toward self-destruction. Ryson is forced to act on several fronts. He must find Jure, stabilize the elf camp, and deal with a renegade primeval. When the delver finally faces the demon, he discovers that far more is at stake than any territorial claim. He struggles in a vicious battle only to realize that certain decisions are beyond his influence. In hoping to save the land as well as his own conscience, Ryson discovers the one possible solution is also a chance for redemption.
