The purpose of this book is to provide a step-by-step complete and detailed description of the rules that govern both the stress--oral emphasis placed on certain syllables in speech-- and the written accent marks-- graphic marks written on certain vowels-- in Spanish. The explanations are presented in English and accompanied by multiple examples in Spanish. When appropriate, differences between Spanish and English are presented. This is the best explanation available for accent marks in Spanish; it falls elegantly between a brief introduction and an exhaustive compendium.
