Trauma survivors need to find ways to work through their experiences and get a sense of meaning and understanding is great. While the majority of those who have experienced direct trauma or who have witnessed trauma will heal, even persons who do not develop full-blown post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, will experience a number of the symptoms of post-traumatic stress: flashbacks; intrusive thoughts and memories; hyperreactivity; avoidance of persons, places, things, and other triggers; jumpiness; and other symptoms. Other persons have experienced lifelong traumas that are character changing; many of these people suffer from a syndrome that researchers are just beginning to describe, called complex PTSD. This workbook was conceptualized as a resource for the survivor who experiences a few or many of the symptoms of PTSD or complex PTSD. When we were first asked to develop this book, we asked colleagues to share exercises that might help survivors do the work themselves. We also began to focus on the exercises we use in our own clinical work. Indeed, our clinical experience is what makes us qualified to author this book. Both of us are primarily grunt workers in the trenches of the field of trauma. We have met with many clients on a regular basis for both short-term and long-term therapy. That extensive experience allows us to say that though the road of healing may be long and difficult, healing can and does happen. In this workbook, you will have the opportunity to complete numerous exercises that will give you insight into your symptoms, your beliefs, your behaviors, and your feelings about the trauma or traumas you endured. Many of these exercises can be completed in the book itself, so that the book becomes a record of your recovery from trauma as well as a resource for you to turn to again and again throughout that recovery. Other exercises can be completed in a separate notebook or journal, which can also be used to expand upon the exercises you complete in the book or to record your other thoughts and feelings along your journey to healing. We hope that this book will help you on that journey.

Although Communication with All Life is about animal communication, it isn't just a how-to book, but a guide that will help you discern how much you're already exchanging feelings, words, and pictures with your pet. Woven throughout the book are many stories to illustrate and support the theory that animal communication isn't something that you do or need to learn . . . it just is. By tuning in telepathically, Joan Ranquet has helped thousands of people and animals deepen their connections with each other, resolve behavioral problems, assist in the process of death and dying, and examine issues surrounding illness and accidents. Many of the situations that are dealt with throughout the book are actually people-perception problems rather than stories of an ill-behaved dog, cat, horse, bird, or other pet. Communication with All Life illustrates how to move past the emotional patterns that create unwanted behavior and ultimately demonstrates that animal companions give humans the opportunity to enact leadership and responsibility in their thoughts and feelings to ensure harmony at home.

With her children at school, a mother is on to a new stage of her life, playing a new role. The daily challenges she confronts have changed, yet for each one Buddhist teachings of mindfulness, compassion and calm are invaluable. This book explores those teachings through many scenarios, including managing the stress of numerous deadlines, coping with routine and repetition, answering children's tricky questions about how the world works, fitting in with other parents, managing our fears and expectations for our children, and dealing with difficult behaviours in both children and adults. In her usual warm, wise, inclusive and accessible style, Sarah also suggests ways to share Buddhist teachings with children so they maintain a connection to their own inner wisdom rather than reacting to peers and the media. Within this book, mothers will find the inspiration to be more patient, loving and attentive towards their children, other family members, other parents, but most of all, themselves. WC Sarah Napthali is a mother of two young boys who strives to apply Buddhist teachings in her daily life. She is the author of Buddhism for Mothers, which has sold 60,000 copies around the world and been translated into nine languages to date, and Buddhism for Mothers of Young Children (formerly published under the title Buddhism for Mothers with Lingering Questions). Since the children started school, Sarah is very pleased to report that she manages to meditate (almost) daily.
