Glimpses Light

A Glimpse of Light offers contemplations from the ocean of wisdom contained in the wisdom of Kabbalah, touching upon topics such as pleasure, ego, love, men and women, education, Nature, The Book of Zohar, and spirituality. I firmly believed there was a world outside of our own minds . . . But all around me were challenges. . . . How could we be so sure there were such things existing apart from us? Philosopher Benedict Chilwell faces a crisis of confidence and hopes to resolve it in a self-imposed exile, far away in the north of Norway. From his cabin, he begins his meditations, pondering the mysteries of philosophy in the dark Arctic winter. Pride, a whale, love and lust, the Huldra, God and a chain of causes all interrupt Benedict's solitude. Could they prove his salvation? In six days approaching the return of the light, Benedict discovers a basis for certainty and tries his best to convince his hosts. Through doubts, questions and reasoning, Chilwell inadvertently follows in Descartes' footsteps. Will he be killed by the cold too; or will the warmth of Plato's sun save him in time?

Before I gave my heart to Jesus Christ and received Him as my Lord and Savior, I lived a life that reflected decisions made outside the will of God. Christianity and salvation were the furthest thoughts from my mind, and I was happy living for the moment. Even though my sins were not categorized by man as being horrible sins worthy of punishment, nonetheless, in the sight of God, they were sins worthy of His punishment and, yet, His forgiveness.I wrote this book of poetry because I want you to know that Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart (or someone that you know). This is a major reinterpretation of John Bunyan, each of whose works, including the posthumous, is analyzed in its immediate historical context. The author draws on recent literature on depression to demonstrate that Bunyan suffered from this mood disorder as a young man and then used this experience to help mold his literary works.
