When I believed God chose the wrong person, I was thinking about me, not Him. I saw my brokenness as a handicap, not an asset. How could He use my insecurity, low self-esteem, financial struggle, bluntness, perfectionism, awkwardness, and failure for good? The wrong person is always the right person to God. Think about it? he used a prostitute, a murderer, a widow, a criminal, fishermen, a tax collector, a boy with some bread and fish, all the seemingly wrong people, to change the world. He chooses all the wrong people, because in His perfect plan, He sent Jesus, to transform us into all the right people. My heart is full realizing the treasure of being the wrong person. When God chooses 'the wrong person' you have a front row seat to the miracles of what only He can do. He knows you cannot do it. He knows you know you cannot do it. Your life is fully His and He chooses to do with your life what will be for His glory and not yours. God chose me, who I can prove is the wrong person, because He wants the glory of making me the right person. The moment people think of us and immediately think of Jesus, we will be on our way to leaving a legacy.

THE DILEMMA OF BEING CHOSEN is about the triangular interworking of being chosen, being favoured, and being purposed for a specific task. Being chosen by God for whatever task is in itself a tremendous honour, but with such honour comes the dilemma that the vessel of choice has to face in relation to that specific task. Long after God has made His choice in choosing the vessel, the vessel, more often than not, struggles with the context of his or her life in relation to his or her purpose. For a follower of Christ, the irony of being chosen is this: we are chosen out of the world to live in the world. The place from where we are chosen and the one in which we live are two very different places. Finding ourselves in between these two worlds is when the tug-of-war inside of us starts. We would be in error if we thought that our lives could remain unaffected by the impact of our being chosen for whatever purpose. From the inception of such purpose to its manifestation, a person is in need of divine favour to bridge the gap. The truth is that although we are called out of the world whilst living in the world, the debilitating atmosphere of the world aims to misalign us from our purpose. It is such paradox that sets us on a collision course with ourselves, which will bring us into contact with the dilemma of being chosen.

"The word of God is living and operative" (Hebrews 4:12a). It is "living" and not just letter because it gives life. The Scriptures are "operative" because they contain not only theological ideas to be pondered but also spiritual realities to be experienced. For "every scripture is divinely inspired [God-breathed], and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; that the man of God may be complete, fully fitted to every good work" (II Timothy 3:16-17). "Ye search the scriptures," said the Lord Jesus Christ, "for ye think that in them ye have life eternal, and they it is which bear witness concerning me; and ye will not come to me that ye might have life" (John 5:39-40). It behooves us, therefore, to diligently read the Bible and meditate on it. To encourage God's people to study God's word, brother Stephen Kaung delivered a series of messages on the sixty-six books of the Bible. Commencing in 1983, each Lord's day the survey of one book was shared from the New Testament; and a similar sharing from the Old Testament commenced in 1986. Each message is merely a panoramic view of each book of the Bible; a tasting of the sweetness of God's word. The aim is to provide the saints with some basic understanding in their search of God's word. These being spoken messages, no acknowledgement of the names of the many commentaries consulted is indicated. This survey of the Holy Bible will be published as Volume I and Volume II under the overall title of God Has Spoken: with Volume I bearing the subtitle, Seeing Christ in the Old Testament, and consisting of two physical volumes, Part One (Genesis to Song of Songs) and Part Two (Isaiah to Malachi); and Volume II bearing the subtitle, Seeing Christ in the New Testament. May God use these volumes to increase our love for His word.

What's the point of going to church? Why get up so early in the morning, put on a bunch of uncomfortable clothes, sing the same songs, give away your hard-earned money, shake hands with people you don't really even know (and sometimes don't even like), and end up wasting your entire Sunday morning? Why do people put themselves through this on a weekly basis? This book is meant to help people understand that there is a point to church, a perfectly logical reason millions of people attend worship services around the world every week, and a reason men and women have dedicated their lives to serve in their local churches. There's a reason people sell everything they own and fly halfway around the world to start churches in cultures they know nothing about. Read this book with an open mind and an open heart, and you will discover that there is a point to church!
