Downcast, Dejected—even the Dead—find themselves in the wake of Jesus’ love. Just who exactly did Jesus love? Author Jessica Thompson intimately engages the gospel narratives and helps the reader explore who and how Jesus loves. What does Jesus have to say to the Doubter or the Denier? How does he address the Discouraged, the Fearful, or the Outcast? Have you ever felt Forgotten or Faint-hearted? Ever needed Spiritual or Physical healing? He Loved Them shows the interactions of Jesus with real people who have real needs, struggles, and pain. As we contemplate Jesus’ heart and actions toward the lost and brokenhearted characters in the Bible, we begin to know more fully how God feels toward us—we experience how Jesus comes alongside and loves us in our own doubt, fears, and need for healing. Thompson begins this journey with the humanity of Jesus. She explores Jesus’ relationship with the Father and with creation. She looks in depth at how He Loved Them and joins the biblical stories to how he loves you!

In this published form of the 1997 Staley Lectures delivered at Southeastern College in Lakeland Florida, John Christopher Thomas explores the Farewell Materials in the Gospel according to John. Following a brief discussion devoted to the nature of biblical narrative, the concentric structure of this text is explored. Individual lectures are devoted to the signs of cleansing with which the Farewell Materials begin and end (the Foot washing and the Prayer of Jesus); the passages devoted to the themes of Departure, Betrayal, and Provision; teaching about the Paraclete; and those that underscore the solidarity the believers have with Jesus. The book concludes with the implications of the Farewell Materials for Pentecostal Theology and Ministry.

This is my testimony after reading this book in one setting: With intent, intensity and integrity LaCretia wrote this book and it is indeed a page turner. Even though I know at least seventy percent of her testimony because I was a personal witness to it and knew most of the family and friends that she graciously changed their names to protect; I honestly don't think they would want to be protected. I think that they would be as I am, so Godly proud of LaCretia for telling her story honestly, deeply, passionately, and beautifully. She is more than transparent in her sharing; completely exposed and tremendously truthful about her inner feelings and painful journey. She shares her vulnerabilities in such a way that you find yourself saying, "I should be so courageously honest about my own addictions." I want this book to get into the hands of women from all walks of life because I know somewhere between these lines they will find their "lonely, loveless, painful, hopeful, vulnerable, truthful, longing, and most of all they will like LaCretia come to know that God's love "without condemnation" is available to them as well. My prayer is that wherever each woman finds her state in life to be while reading this book, she will receive the message of unfailing love and receive the resolve to trust God with her pain and her plans. Great job LaCretia, and awesome pen. Get this book into the hands of women who need it NOW.

Have you ever asked yourself how someone could be diagnosed with cancer and still believe theres a God or that something good could actually come of it? Have you ever considered what its like to live after being struck with such a catastrophe? When I was sixteen years old, I was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma. While in the hospital, many people gave me journals and pens and told me to use the gift God had given me to write. Not long after I began my journaling process, God laid it on my heart that I would someday publish my journal to encourage others. Three years later, my story is published just for you. I pray that it makes an impact on your own story. After all, thats why were here, to make an impact, leave a legacy, and be love, all on behalf of Christ. I hope your perspective is transformed by the beauty of Christ as you step into my world and witness it shatter and heal in a way only explained by the God of the universe.

Aziza is an ordinary, average Malaysian girl. She goes to school, loves her mother, father, and siblings, she studies diligently and obeys her elders. But her life is tragically changed when, unexpectedly and suddenly, her family dies in a car accident. Her grandparents, for a few years, fill the void left in Aziza’s heart, but too soon the girl finds herself in the situation of being, once again, alone. And it’s in that moment that she discovers the truth: she is, in fact, adopted. All the comments, all the whispers she heard when she was a child now start to make sense. Determination, education, and an unmovable faith are the pillars that keep supporting Aziza throughout her life. What her family left her, above all, are solid and precious moral values. Among the adversities of facing the world without a family’s support and advice, she will become a successful woman, surrounded by her friends and a loving husband. A tale told through the eyes of a bright Malaysian Islamic girl making her way in a westernised world. A book about the undying values of honesty, family, and the endless, forgiving love of God. Hafsah Ali, a Singapore born lady, was educated at Madrasah Radin Mas and St Theresa’s Convent. She is a widely travelled lady, thanks to her occupation as a passenger relations officer with Malaysia Airlines. She met royalties, prime ministers, governors, ministers, company big wigs and celebrities from all over the world. “Never a dull moment! I made many friends and grew up at the airport!” With a good retrenchment package, she flew to Cairo to study Arabic with the intention of going into tourism-related business. A one-month holiday in Damascus, Syria, changed her life. Ashamed that she could memorise the world’s map but never improved her spiritual knowledge, she enrolled at Al Fatah Islamic School. She attended an evening class (at Ahmad Qiftaro Foundation) at Abu Al Nur Islamic Centre; obtained a diploma in Dialogue of Civilisation and Dakwa focusing on her studies for three years. She returned not as a Jihadist carrying guns but as a lady donned in hijab, showing modesty, humility, compassion, and kindness. She is now involved in voluntary work at St Luke’s Hospital, and writing has become her passion. She loves talking to young people and she is also an animal lover. Her motto in life now is: “Be nice, be kind, be grateful.”
