Inclusive Business Models will be relevant to students in management institutes, both in India and globally.

A training package including a facilitators's manual and series of PowerPoint presentations, developed to support design and implementation of small-holder-based market-linkage initiatives using the Inclusive Business Models (IBM) approach.

Inclusive Business Models talks about organizations that employ principles of business to address the needs of the poor. It takes an analytical approach to derive insights about business models by comparison with other inclusive models seen within the same sector and through comparisons with models from a different sector. This cross sector comparison, especially with a number of case studies, would enable readers to cumulate their learning, and act as a guide to management students, practicing managers and entrepreneurs for understanding and analyzing any business model that intends or claims to be inclusive. This book is beneficial for students of entrepreneurship, social enterprises and human resource management. Sections of this book would be relevant for courses on social enterprises, developmental economics and inclusive business models taught globally, given that India today has emerged as a hotbed of experiments and innovations to deal with the problems of poverty and inequality.

Over the past decade, Ghana’s tilapia farming has experienced tremendous growth in production; however, much of the growth has been driven by large-scale cage farmers around Lake Volta. It remains unclear how this growth is and can be made more inclusive of poor and young women and men. This study was conducted to analyze different inclusive business models along the fish seed value chain that can potentially be implemented in Ghana. Based on literature review, field interviews, analysis of survey data, and stakeholder workshops, this study develops four business model prototypes for seed multiplication and distribution to increase farmers’ access to and use of quality tilapia seed: (1) Nursery , which buy fish fry from a reliable hatchery, transport them to locations near other farmers, and grow it to a larger size; (2) Local feed mill, with pelleting machine and technical knowledge to advise on feed formulation; (3) Agents, technical experts who supply fingerlings, handle transport and marketing, and provide technical advice; and (4) Local hatchery, which obtains brood stock from a reliable source, produces local fingerlings to sell to nearby farmers, and provides technical support. Initial ex ante financial and profitability analyses were undertaken and will be refined according to the actual context in the particular district where the sensitization and pilot-testing will take place. These business models have the potential not only to increase farmers’ access to and use of quality tilapia seed but also to provide livelihood and income generation along the fish seed value chain.

Institutional Interconnections and Cross-Boundary Cooperation in Inclusive Business explores the nature and characteristics of institutional interconnections in inclusive business and how these connections can be developed to help alleviate poverty through business activities in developing countries.

This book provides a comprehensive exploration into the identification and development of sustainable business models as well as their implementation, management and evaluation. With ever-increasing pressure on organisations to respond to societal change and improve competition through sustainable business model innovation (SBMI), this book aims to contribute to the knowledge of their design and management. The chapters explore the role of partnerships, the Internet of Things and the circular economy, among other factors, in developing SBM and how SBMI is facilitated through ideation and in entrepreneurial settings. Providing new typologies, patterns and a framework to evaluate the level of sustainability of business models, this book critically reviews existing literature on the topic to examine the potential of SBMI in research and in practice. The contributing authors employ a number of case studies and case examples to illustrate the integration of sustainable business models throughout the value chain, and their influence on wider social, environmental and business activities.

Chapters in this book contribute to our understanding of the theory, structure and practice of entrepreneurship in diverse African countries. Case studies examined include: African multinational banks and businesses, female entrepreneurs, culture and entrepreneurship, finance and entrepreneurship and SMEs.

The report, Business+ Philippines, provides valuable insight about the level of inclusiveness among Philippine companies today. It presents the results of a baseline survey among Philippine companies to understand their current levels of awareness, knowledge, and engagement in Inclusive Business, and to determine challenges and opportunities for adopting Inclusive Business models in their operations. The Business+ study, conducted by the Philippine Board of Investments and UNDP Istanbul’s International Center for Private Sector in Development in partnership with the country’s most prominent business associations, involved 223 companies in the Philippines.
