This book is the proceeding of the 1st International Conference on Distributed Sensing and Intelligent Systems (ICDSIS2020) which will be held in The National School of Applied Sciences of Agadir, Ibn Zohr University, Agadir, Morocco on February 01-03, 2020. ICDSIS2020 is co-organized by Computer Vision and Intelligent Systems Lab, University of North Texas, USA as a scientific collaboration event with The National School of Applied Sciences of Agadir, Ibn Zohr University. ICDSIS2020 aims to foster students, researchers, academicians and industry persons in the field of Computer and Information Science, Intelligent Systems, and Electronics and Communication Engineering in general. The volume collects contributions from leading experts around the globe with the latest insights on emerging topics, and includes reviews, surveys, and research chapters covering all aspects of distributed sensing and intelligent systems. The volume is divided into 5 key sections: Distributed Sensing Applications; Intelligent Systems; Advanced theories and algorithms in machine learning and data mining; Artificial intelligence and optimization, and application to Internet of Things (IoT); and Cybersecurity and Secure Distributed Systems. This conference proceeding is an academic book which can be read by students, analysts, policymakers, and regulators interested in Distributed Sensing, Smart Network approaches, Smart Cities, IoT Applications, and Intelligent Applications. It is written in plain and easy language, and describes new concepts when they appear first so that a reader without prior background of the field finds it readable. The book is primarily intended for research students in sensor networks and IoT applications (including intelligent information systems, and smart sensors applications), academics in higher education institutions including universities and vocational colleges, policy makers and legislators.

Combining different perspectives from materials science, engineering, and computer science, this reference provides a unified view of the various aspects necessary for the successful realization of intelligent systems. The editors and authors are from academia and research institutions with close ties to industry, and are thus able to offer first-hand information here. They adopt a unique, three-tiered approach such that readers can gain basic, intermediate, and advanced topical knowledge. The technology section of the book is divided into chapters covering the basics of sensor integration in materials, the challenges associated with this approach, data processing, evaluation, and validation, as well as methods for achieving an autonomous energy supply. The applications part then goes on to showcase typical scenarios where material-integrated intelligent systems are already in use, such as for structural health monitoring and smart textiles.

Intelligent systems, or artificial intelligence technologies, are playing an increasing role in areas ranging from medicine to the major manufacturing industries to financial markets. The consequences of flawed artificial intelligence systems are equally wide ranging and can be seen, for example, in the programmed trading-driven stock market crash of October 19, 1987. Intelligent Systems: Technology and Applications, Six Volume Set connects theory with proven practical applications to provide broad, multidisciplinary coverage in a single resource. In these volumes, international experts present case-study examples of successful practical techniques and solutions for diverse applications ranging from robotic systems to speech and signal processing, database management, and manufacturing.

Agent Technology, or Agent-Based Approaches, is a new paradigm for developing software applications. It has been hailed as 'the next significant breakthrough in software development', and 'the new revolution in software' after object technology or object-oriented programming. In this context, an agent is a computer system which is capable of acting autonomously in its environment in order to meet its design objectives. So in the area of concurrent design and manufacturing, a manufacturing resource, namely a machine or an operator, may cooperate and negotiate with other agents for task assignment; and an existing engineering software can be integrated with a distributed integrated engineering design and manufacturing system. Hence in agent-based systems, there is no centralized system control structure, and no pre-defined agenda for the system execution, as exist in traditional systems. This book systematically describes the principles, key issues, and applications of agent technology in relation to concurrent engineering design and manufacturing. It introduces the methodology, standards, frameworks, tools, and languages of agent-based approaches and presents a general procedure for building agent-based concurrent engineering design and manufacturing systems. Both professional and university researchers and postgraduates should find this an invaluable presentation of the corresponding theories and methods, with some practical examples for developing multi-agent systems in the domain.

Towards Intelligent Manufacturing Systems This book contains the selected articles from the third International Conference on lriformation Technology for Balanced Automation Systems in Manufacturing. A rapid evolution in a number of areas leading to Intelligent Manufacturing Systems has been observ@d in recent years. Significant efforts are being spent on this research area, namely in terms of international cooperative projects, like the IMS initiative, the USA NIIIP (National Industrial Information Infrastructure Protocols) project, or the European ESPRIT programme, and a growing number of conferences and workshops. The importance of the Information and Communication Technologies in the manufacturing area is weIl established today. The proper combination of these areas with the socio-organizational issues, supported by intelligent tools, is however, more difficult to achieve, and fully justifies the need for the BASYS conference and the publication of the series of books on Balanced Automation SyStems. The first book of this series focused on the topic of "Architectures and Design Methods", was published in 1995. Mahy of the fundamental aspects of manufacturing, and some preliminary results were presented in this book. Among others, the topics included: Modeling and design of FMS, Enterprise modeling and organization, Decision support systems in manufacturing, Anthropocentric systems, CAE/CAD/CAM integration, Scheduling systems, Extended enterprises, Multi agent system architecture, Balanced flexibility, Intelligent supervision systems, Shop-floor control, and Computer aided process planning.
