This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the 13th Workshop of the European Group for Intelligent Computing in Engineering and Architecture, EG-ICE 2006, held in Ascona, Switzerland in June 2006. The 59 revised full papers were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions for inclusion in the book. All issues of advanced informatics are covered including a range of techniques.

The 28th EG-ICE International Workshop 2021 brings together international experts working at the interface between advanced computing and modern engineering challenges. Many engineering tasks require open-world resolutions to support multi-actor collaboration, coping with approximate models, providing effective engineer-computer interaction, search in multi-dimensional solution spaces, accommodating uncertainty, including specialist domain knowledge, performing sensor-data interpretation and dealing with incomplete knowledge. While results from computer science provide much initial support for resolution, adaptation is unavoidable and most importantly, feedback from addressing engineering challenges drives fundamental computer-science research. Competence and knowledge transfer goes both ways. Der 28. Internationale EG-ICE Workshop 2021 bringt internationale Experten zusammen, die an der Schnittstelle zwischen fortgeschrittener Datenverarbeitung und modernen technischen Herausforderungen arbeiten. Viele ingenieurwissenschaftliche Aufgaben erfordern Open-World-Resolutionen, um die Zusammenarbeit mehrerer Akteure zu unterstützen, mit approximativen Modellen umzugehen, eine effektive Interaktion zwischen Ingenieur und Computer zu ermöglichen, in mehrdimensionalen Lösungsräumen zu suchen, Unsicherheiten zu berücksichtigen, einschließlich fachspezifischen Domänenwissens, Sensordateninterpretation durchzuführen und mit unvollständigem Wissen umzugehen. This book discusses a number of intelligent algorithms which are being developed and explored for the next-generation communication systems. These include algorithms enabled with artificial intelligence, machine learning, artificial neural networks, reinforcement learning, fuzzy logic, swarm intelligence and cognitive capabilities. The book provides a comprehensive and insightful understanding of these algorithms, in context with their applications developed recently and also for immediate future communication technologies. It also covers the topics on how to develop intelligent algorithms for computing functionality in the end-to-end networking platforms. This book is a comprehensive collection of chapters focusing on the core areas of computing and their further applications in the real world. Each chapter is a paper presented at the Computing Conference 2021 held on 15-16 July 2021. Computing 2021 attracted a total of 638 submissions which underwent a double-blind peer review process. Of those 638 submissions, 235 submissions have been selected to be included in this book. The goal of this conference is to give a platform to researchers with fundamental contributions and to be a premier venue for academic and industry practitioners to share new ideas and development experiences. We hope that readers find this volume interesting and valuable as it provides the state-of-the-art intelligent methods and techniques for solving real-world problems. We also expect that the conference and its publications is a trigger for further related research and technology improvements in this important subject.
