Selena is nearly finished with law school and ready to embark on her long-awaited career when she unexpectedly discovers that she's pregnant. The surprise surfaces during an annual school trip when she is away from her husband, and she is both overwhelmed and uncertain how to respond. While she is determined to carry the pregnancy to term, she faces many family challenges: both her mother and in-laws are from India, and they are filled with superstitious and arcane reactions to her pregnancy. Her husband, Samir, was initially angry that she went on the trip without telling him; he warms up to the news but remains emotionally distant from Selena. As she studies for the bar exam, she often feels like a single mother. In Law Girl's Bump in the Road, Leia London paints a gritty but engaging portrait of a career woman dealing with an unplanned pregnancy. By turns realistic and poignant, gripping yet funny, it deals with the issues of marriage and motherhood in a lighthearted and entertaining way.

From bestselling Christian fiction author Sally John comes a brand-new series featuring broken lives, new beginnings...and unexpected romance. Welcome to Casa de Vida—eleven quaint bungalows located three blocks from the Pacific Ocean in tiny Seaside Village, California. Owner Liv McAlister never advertises vacancies beyond a small hand-lettered sign out front, preferring to trust that God will send the right tenant at just the right time. And He always does. Meet Jasmyn Albright—she’s had more than her share of bad breaks lately, beginning with the tornado that demolished her farmhouse. Emotionally fragile and feeling utterly alone, Jasmyn heads west, hoping to outrun her heartbreak. And she doesn’t stop until she notices a small sign that reads “Vacancy.” Before she’s quite aware of how it all happened, Jasmyn finds herself the newest tenant at Casa de Vida. She hardly dares to hope that her fortunes might be about to change...but of course when God is at work, anything can happen, and new beginnings are one of His specialties. Sometimes among strangers, family happens. And sometimes, when we least expect it, romance is a welcome guest.

During the two decades following entry into World War II, nearly 30 million men and women served in or worked for the United States military. Tens of thousands faced a general court-martial under the Articles of War, which prescribed either life in prison or death for crimes of murder, rape or desertion. Only 160 men were sentenced to death and executed--159 for murder or rape (or a combination of the two), and one for desertion. The manner of death was by firing squad or by hanging. These dishonored servicemen were buried in various locations around the world. Later, nearly all were moved to grave sites in military cemeteries, segregated from those who died honorably. This book tells the stories of the men, their crimes and their executions.

Sophie DeMusa had plans. Finish college. Go to med school. Save the world. She never planned to be in a hospital bed, in a coma after ingesting too many pills. The homicide detective standing over her didn’t plan to be there either. After all, she wasn’t dead. Detective Jesus De La Cruz was ready to turn away from the sad story of a suicide attempt. When his AA sponsor, Dr. Oscar Bollier, pressed, Cruz begrudgingly agreed to investigate. It should have been an open-and-shut case. Except, if it was suicide, why were there two different 911 calls? As Cruz digs into the weeks and months before Sophie’s hospitalization, he unearths a twisted knot of reality and perception. A sex scandal, a jilted lover, a callous director, a rainmaker, and a quid pro quo all made decisions and took actions that affected Sophie’s life. But did one of them try to kill her? The facts have Cruz questioning if there is such a thing as an innocent man. Truth is a strong rope, tied in a noose. As he closes in, the knot tightens, but who will pay the price? A killer or a member of Cruz’s own family?
