‘Localising Leadership’ provides an invaluable reference point for senior executives or those striving towards a successful cross-border career, to understand how cultural differences impact upon leadership styles and practices. Each semester, we publish a report on our quantitative survey-based global study, alongside our review of extant in-country leadership literature, preferably written by local scholars and professionals in their native language. Moreover, we attempt to empirically validate these findings by conducting expert interviews with native specialists. This new issue of our ongoing leadership series presents country-specific analyses of culturally endorsed leadership practices and styles in the following countries: Bangladesh, Brunei, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Macau, Malta, Norway, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Qatar, Saint Martin, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Sri Lanka, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, United Kingdom and Zimbabwe.This publication contains contributions from around 100 researchers from sixteen countries who participated in the Cross-Cultural Business Skills elective offered by the Part-time Academy of the Faculty of Business and Economics at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA).

Regnum Studies in Mission are born from the lived experience of Christians and Christian communities in mission, especially but not solely in the fast growing churches among the poor of the world. These churches have more to tell than stories of growth. They are making significant impacts on their cultures in the cause of Christ. They are producing 'cultural products' which express the reality of Christian faith, hope and love in their societies.

This book uses organisational theory to explore how power and leadership operate in development organisations in different contexts and at different levels. Culture as a tool for enacting change is of particular importance within organisational and leadership analysis but often limiting. Notions of exceptionalism within the development sector mean that lessons from other organisational contexts are often disregarded or deemed irrelevant. In examining the way that culture operates in organisational and leadership analysis and in development thinking and approaches, the book invites closer attention to modes of organising and leading. The book examines development exceptionalism and the leadership fetishism that it evokes as a panacea for addressing disorder and crisis. The term organisationalism is deployed to capture the endeavours to control and manage, produce and reproduce organisation, and the manifestations, responses and imprints of ‘seeing like an organisation’. The modes and manifestations of organisationalism are especially notable in times of crisis and disorder, accusations of wrongdoings, bad culture and bad leadership. This book makes an important contribution to debates on development exceptionalism and leadership and as such will be of interest to researchers in development studies and management studies and related disciplines across sociology, politics and global governance.

Focusing on both pre-colonial and post-colonial eras, this book aims to cultivate a greater understanding of globalisation processes in the context of leadership behaviour in Africa. Analysing empirical evidence and theoretical frameworks, the author evaluates the role of leaders in the failure of African globalisation and seeks to propose an initiative for change. This book investigates the political, social, and economic dynamics and structures that influence the leadership of Civil Society Organisations at the local, national, and global levels. Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) play an increasingly important role in the political, economic, and social dynamics that shape daily lives across the world. Encompassing a diverse range of organisations, objectives, and activities, the CSO sector is an expansive terrain characterised by dynamic relationships between leaders, agents of action, the communities, and the global challenges that drive their agenda, which span from poverty to climate emergency to injustice to inequalities. Drawing on case studies from Brazil, India, Yemen, Syria, Iran, and Turkey, this book explores the distinct challenges faced by CSO leaders, their current operational practices, and their strategies for future development.
