This volume presents selected contributions from experts gathered at Chapman University for a conference held in November 2019 on new directions in function theory. The papers, written by leading researchers in the field, relate to hypercomplex analysis, Schur analysis and de Branges spaces, new aspects of classical function theory, and infinite dimensional analysis. Signal processing constitutes a strong presence in several of the papers.A second volume in this series of conferences, this book will appeal to mathematicians interested in learning about new fields of development in function theory.

"This text presents a comprehensive treatment of signal processing and linear systems suitable for undergraduate students in electrical engineering, It is based on Lathi's widely used book, Linear Systems and Signals, with additional applications to communications, controls, and filtering as well as new chapters on analog and digital filters and digital signal processing. This volume's organization is different from the earlier book. Here, the Laplace transform follows Fourier, rather than the reverse; continuous-time and discrete-time systems are treated sequentially, rather than interwoven. Additionally, the text contains enough material in discrete-time systems to be used not only for a traditional course in signals and systems but also for an introductory course in digital signal processing. In Signal Processing and Linear Systems Lathi emphasizes the physical appreciation of concepts rather than the mere mathematical manipulation of symbols. Avoiding the tendency to treat engineering as a branch of applied mathematics, he uses mathematics not so much to prove an axiomatic theory as to enhance physical and intuitive understanding of concepts. Wherever possible, theoretical results are supported by carefully chosen examples and analogies, allowing students to intuitively discover meaning for themselves." --Descripción del editor.

This book contains reports made at the International Conference on Differential Equations, Mathematical Modeling and Computational Algorithms, held in Belgorod, Russia, in October 2021 and is devoted to various aspects of the theory of differential equations and their applications in various branches of science. Theoretical papers devoted to the qualitative analysis of emerging mathematical objects, theorems of the existence and uniqueness of solutions to the boundary value problems under study are presented, and numerical algorithms for their solution are described. Some issues of mathematical modeling are also covered; in particular, in problems of economics, computational aspects of the theory of differential equations and boundary value problems are studied. The articles are written by well-known experts and are interesting and useful to a wide audience: mathematicians, representatives of applied sciences and students and postgraduates of universities engaged in applied mathematics.

Over the course of his distinguished career, Robert Strichartz (1943-2021) had a substantial impact on the field of analysis with his deep, original results in classical harmonic, functional, and spectral analysis, and in the newly developed analysis on fractals. This is the first volume of a tribute to his work and legacy, featuring chapters that reflect his mathematical interests, written by his colleagues and friends. An introductory chapter summarizes his broad and varied mathematical work and highlights his profound contributions as a mathematical mentor. The remaining articles are grouped into three sections – functional and harmonic analysis on Euclidean spaces, analysis on manifolds, and analysis on fractals – and explore Strichartz’ contributions to these areas, as well as some of the latest developments.

This book defines and examines the counterpart of Schur functions and Schur analysis in the slice hyperholomorphic setting. It is organized into three parts: the first introduces readers to classical Schur analysis, while the second offers background material on quaternions, slice hyperholomorphic functions, and quaternionic functional analysis. The third part represents the core of the book and explores quaternionic Schur analysis and its various applications. The book includes previously unpublished results and provides the basis for new directions of research.
