Little Raccoon

Little Raccoon has adventures fishing by himself at night, venturing into the outside world beyond his woods, and babysitting two tricky chipmunks.

A little raccoon sneaks away from his sleeping family to search for food alone for the first time. Entertaining photographs accompany brief text, detailing the many snacks (and troubles!) that the raccoon finds. Children will love exploring with the little raccoon!

Little Raccoon decides not to take a nap with his brothers and sisters and goes exploring in the woods instead. The other animals he meets there all seem to think he belongs by the river, not in the woods. Once he catches a crayfish in a stream, he realizes that he is better suited to life by the river.

What luscious berries Little Raccoon has picked! She wants to eat them ALL. So when she spies her friends coming by, she hides behind a bush. Will Little Raccoon end up keeping the berries to herself—or will she see how rewarding sharing can be?

Little Raccoon grew up under the love and protection of his mother. They lived in a hollow tree and played in the fields of flowers. She taught him all he needed to know to grow healthy and safely within their part of the world. But as Little Raccoon grew, he found it more and more compelling to explore farther and farther from the protection and safety of his home. When Little Raccoon comes upon some other raccoons playing in the meadow, he wanders past his boundaries on the quest to find independence and freedom.

One day a botanist finds an abandoned baby raccoon at the edge of her farmland. She takes it home to nurture it to health and finds it delightful to watch its daily antics. She learns to respect and teach it to fend for itself even though it preferred to stay with her.

Little Raccoon packs his baseball mitt, butterfly net, and water pail, and with his pal Red Squirrel in tow, goes out to catch a cold.

When Little Raccoon wanders off one day, she finds herself on her own, with all kinds of strange noises around her.
