Mathematica Lab Manual Reform Calculus

Teaches students to use Mathematica to solve problems in calculus with student projects and weekly labs. This is Version 2.2.

This text is meant to be a hands-on lab manual that can be used in class every day to guide the exploration of the theory and applications of differential and integral calculus. For the most part, labs can be used individually or in a sequence. Each lab consists of an explanation of material with integrated exercises. Some labs are split into multiple subsections and thus exercises are separated by those subsections. The exercise sections integrate problems, technology, Mathematica R visualization, and Mathematica CDFs that allow students to discover the theory and applications of differential and integral calculus in a meaningful and memorable way.

This book contains 26 laboratory modules for use in coursework or in independent projects.

Contains 20 projects, sample syllabi, troubleshooting tips, and programming with Maple. Each chapter ends with a summary and a set of exercises.

Descriptions are organized by discipline and include projects in: astronomy, biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, geological sciences, mathematics, physics, and social sciences, as well as a selection of interdisciplinary projects. Each abstract includes a description of the project, published and other instructional materials, additional products of the project, and information on the principal investigator and participating institutions.
