Among the senior citizens of Palm Beach, legendary Oscar-winning actress Charlotte Graham finds love, murder, and a delightful cozy mystery After fifty years on stage and screen, Hollywood icon Charlotte Graham has gone south for the winter. In the glamorous confines of Palm Beach, Charlotte sips rum cocktails, reunites with friends, and rekindles the flame with a former lover. Eddie Norwood was a legendary conductor of the big-band era, and the man who stole Charlotte’s heart aboard the SS Normandie, a fabulously opulent ocean liner that was sabotaged in 1942. Charlotte and Eddie reconnect at a party to honor the memory of the Normandie, and the old sparks are just beginning to fly when their reunion is interrupted by murder. A jewelry designer has been found dead on the beach, and only Charlotte has the poise, wit, and old Hollywood charm necessary to find the killer—and perhaps a little love along the way. Fans of Conrad Allen’s nautical mysteries will be enchanted by Stefanie Matteson’s ability to recreate the glory days of the old ocean liners. Whether sipping champagne or investigating a murder, Charlotte Graham proves that true glamour stands the test of time. Murder Under the Palms is the 8th book in the Charlotte Graham Mysteries, but you may enjoy reading the series in any order.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "I loved the idea of taking a Scottish police officer totally out of his depth and dropping him into another culture." Angie SERIES CHOSEN FOR THE TIMES AND SUNDAY TIMES CRIME CLUB. Palm trees, white sandy beaches and a perfect turquoise sea. Jamaica's Montego Bay might just be paradise. If people didn't keep getting murdered. Judge Wrenn had more than a few enemies, but who wanted to squeeze the life out of him? Detective Preddy is determined to find out. Sean Harris is back and ready to stick his oar in. Preddy thought he'd seen the last of the interfering Glaswegian detective. Meanwhile, the island's surviving judges threaten to strike until Wrenn's killer is found. Jamaica's criminals will be free to run amok. Then another murder turns the case upside down. Time is running out for Preddy and Harris to stop the killing. A gripping crime mystery perfect for fans of Death in Paradise and Biba Pearce, Steph Broadribb, Rachel Howzell Hall, Ian Rankin, Chris Collett, Abir Mukherjee, Val McDermid, and Rachel McLean. Elaine ⭐⭐⭐⭐ "With its piercing social lens and realistic, character-driven plot, Murder in Montego Bay is a superb debut for Paula Lennon." Vijayalakshmi ⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Lennon's writing definitely transports you to the island whether you've been there before or not." Shan ⭐⭐⭐⭐ "This book is very well written and plotted. The suspense starts out immediately and increases through the rest of the book." Joyce ⭐⭐⭐⭐ "First-class murder mystery with multiple suspects, dead-end leads and sleuths with egos and other personal matters that do not make this case straightforward." Gwyneth MEET THE DETECTIVES: Raythan Preddy is a tough-talking, patriotic Jamaican detective and leader of the Pelican Walk Major Crimes Team. Determined to halt the murder rate in Montego Bay despite limited resources and a hostile top brass, Preddy gets the additional help in the form of newly-arrived foreigner, Sean Harris. But the jury is out on whether the new guy is going to be any good. Or whether the locals will understand his broad Glaswegian brogue. Sean Harris is an outspoken, red-headed Scottish detective with a stubborn streak. In his fifties, with nearly two decades in law enforcement, he's been sent on secondment to Jamaica. While sympathetic to the cause of crime reduction, Harris is frustrated by the Jamaican methods of policing and not shy with his opinions. Much to the chagrin of his new colleagues. Like other fictional characters, female sleuths may live in the past or the future. They may represent current times with some level of reality or shape their settings to suit an agenda. There are audiences for both realism and escapism in the mystery novel. It is interesting, however, to compare the fictional world of the mystery sleuth with the world in which readers live. Of course, mystery readers do not share one simplistic world. They live in urban, suburban, and rural areas, as do the female heroines in the books they read. They may choose a book because it has a familiar background or because it takes them to places they long to visit. Readers may be rich or poor; young or old; conservative or liberal. So are the heroines. What incredible choices there are today in mystery series! This three-volume encyclopedia of women characters in the mystery novel is like a gigantic menu. Like a menu, the descriptions of the items that are provided are subjective. Volume 3 of Mystery Women as currently updated adds an additional 42 sleuths to the 500 plus who were covered in the initial Volume 3. These are more recently discovered sleuths who were introduced during the period from January 1, 1990 to December 31, 1999. This more than doubles the number of sleuths introduced in the 1980s (298 of whom were covered in Volume 2) and easily exceeded the 347 series (and some outstanding individuals) described in Volume 1, which covered a 130-year period from 1860-1979. It also includes updates on those individuals covered in the first edition; changes in status, short reviews of books published since the first edition through December 31, 2008.

Murder in the Vatican is two books in one book: The Revolutionary Life of John Paul (the only existing biography of the 33-day Pope) and The CIA, Opus Dei and the 1978 Murders. Why two books in one book? Unless one understands the mystery of his life - something the Vatican prefers to keep secret - The Secret Life of John Paul - one will never understand the mystery of his unwitnessed death. This book is in its fourth edition. In that time, I have changed little of what I have said about this good man's life other than to expand my account in this new edition to include stories of his childhood and his young life as a seminarian and as a priest. Yet, the mystery of his death and the deaths of those around him has involved an investigative process that has taken me to Italy and elsewhere in the world many times and spanned many years. I knew much more five years ago, than I knew five years before that, and I knew much more two years ago, than I knew five years before that, and I know much more today, than I did then. Here for the first time is the proof. How John Paul, and those around him, fell victim to twentieth century capitalism as it was jointly embraced by the Vatican and the United States. BEWARE OF THE USED BOOK MARKET: 2003, 2005 and 2006 editions do not include the complete biography or the solution to the murders. Only this 404 page 2008 edition includes both compete books.

Francine was planning on turning her home into a refuge for the homeless, and as a result, was far from popular with her neighbors.Once Francine's son Zack installs Bailey in residence in the guest cottage as his mother had planned, he presses Bailey to help him find her killer. Zack is loathe to suspect his neighbors: realtor Courtney Lusk, who'd like to become Mrs. Zack Shipton; Dr. Gravely, who operates a private clinic in his home; and funeral director Tucker Tisdale. Zack's more inclined to suspect the new yardman, Mitch Mitchell who appears to be hiding a secret past.
