Excerpt from Racing Life of Lord George Cavendish Bentinck, M. P: And Other Reminiscences Page 4, lines 13, 14. - Instead of "Lord George after leaving Eton," read "Lord George was never sent to any school." P. 54, 1. 23. - It is stated in the first edition that Lord George's losses on the St Leger of 1826 amounted to 27,000. The Dowager Lady Howard de Walden has written to Mr Lawley stating that Lord Georges losses on that occasion- amounted to 13,000. She adds: "His father paid the whole amount in one cheque without a single observation. The Duke took Lord George in his own carriage to Newmarket for the First October Meeting, 1826. Neither promise was asked for nor reproach made." P. 216, 1. 24. - It is stated that the dam of My Mary was Oiseau, &c. This is an error, as it was the dam of Bran (Velvet) who was by Oiseau. My Mary was out of Fury by Tramp. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
