The book constitutes the joint refereed proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Relational Methods in Computer Science, RelMiCS 2006, and the 4th International Workshop on Applications of Kleene Algebras, AKA 2006, held in Manchester, UK in August/September 2006. The 25 revised full papers presented together with two invited papers and the abstract of an invited talk were carefully reviewed and selected from 44 submissions.

The book constitutes the joint refereed proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Relational Methods in Computer Science, RelMiCS 2008, and the 5th International Conference on Applications of Kleene Algebras, AKA 2008, held in Manchester, UK in April 2008. The 26 revised full papers presented together with 2 invited papers were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The papers describe the calculus of relations and similar algebraic formalisms as methodological and conceptual tools with special focus on formal methods for software engineering, logics of programs and links to neighbouring disciplines. Their scope comprises relation algebra, fixpoint calculi, semiring theory, iteration algebras, process algebras and dynamic algebras. Applications include formal algebraic modeling, the semantics, analysis and development of programs, formal language theory and combinatorial optimization.

Their scope comprises relation relation algebras and Kleene algebras, related formalisms such as process algebras, fixed point calculi, idempotent semirings, quantales, allegories, dynamic algebras, cylindric algebras and their applications in areas such as verification, analysis and development of programs and algorithms relational formal methods such as B or Z, tabular methods, algebraic approaches to logics of programs, modal and dynamic logics, interval and temporal logics, algebraic semantics of programming languages , graph theory and combinatorial optimization, games, automata and language theory, mechanised and automated reasoning, decision procedures, spatio-temporal reasoning, knowledge acquisition, preference and scaling methods or information systems.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed joint postproceedings of the 7th International Seminar on Relational Methods in Computer Science and the 2nd International Workshop on Applications of Kleene Algebra held in Bad Malente, Germany in May 2003. The 21 revised full papers presented were carefully selected during two rounds of reviewing and improvement. The papers address foundational and methodological aspects of the calculi of relations and Kleene algebra as well as applications of such methods in various areas of computer science and information processing.

The 23 revised full papers presented were carefully selected from 39 submissions in the general area of relational and algebraic methods in computer science, adding special focus on formal methods for software engineering, logics of programs and links with neighboring disciplines. This conference merges the RelMICS (Relational Methods in Computer Science) and AKA (Applications of Kleene Algebra) conferences, which have been a main forum for researchers who use the calculus of relations and similar algebraic formalisms as methodological and conceptual tools. Relational and algebraic methods and software tools turn out to be useful for solving problems in social choice and game theory. For that reason this conference included a special track on Computational Social Choice and Social Software. The 18 papers included were carefully reviewed and selected from 27 submissions. In addition the volume contains 2 invited tutorials and 5 invited talks.
