In Christian history, no phenomenon is clearer than the recurrence of revivals. A passion for repentance sweeps across a city, and those who had been unaware of the supernatural are now keenly aware of God’s presence. Gripped by conviction of wrongdoing, they throw everything aside and desperately search for a way of salvation. Our spiritual instincts are often clouded by worthless pursuits, but God is working through His laws for the salvation of His people and for the world’s good. In Revival Now, learn about God’s laws of revival, including the laws of progress, spiritual growth, ebbing tide, fullness of time, awakening, variety, and more. Edited for today’s reader by Tom Phillips, Revival Now, originally written by James Burns in 1909 (Revivals, Their Laws and Leaders), traces common characteristics of past revivals, and shows how our world today is ripe for a new, profound move of God’s Spirit. Also included are inspirational prompts and prayers to help you experience Scripture and encounter Jesus. A Jesus awakening is here! DR. TOM PHILLIPS is a farm boy from Mississippi whose grandfather was a circuit-riding preacher. His family’s spiritual heritage originated in the great awakenings throughout the Southeast, beginning in Kentucky, in the early 1800s. Today Tom is vice president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA). Tom and his wife, Ouida, have three grown children and make their home in Charlotte, North Carolina.

How many countries experienced a religious revival during the 20th century? According to this new book on church revival history, there were, at the very least, twenty such revivals occurring in various parts of the world. Revival swept from Asbury University, Australia, through America, and across the European continent; all within the space of one century. Why This Book? I wrote The Twentieth Revivals of the Century because there are so many stories that need to be told. Stories of sweeping revivals, which happened all across the globe. Spiritual awakenings that occurred in countries making headlines today--sometimes for all the wrong reasons. Nations like North Korea's Pyongyang and Japan, which incidentally almost became a Christian nation, leading up to the twentieth century. At this time, Christianity began gaining ground at a rapid pace. Such was the impact of the revivals covered in this book heading into the twentieth century. So, can we see a repeat of such revival fervour in the twenty-first Century? Was the recent Asbury Revival comparable with the one seen there in the 1970s? Does it measure up to the same basic criteria or pass the 'smell test' of how recent revivals have come about? These question, although not directly answered will show the the so-called Asbury revival was missing two basic ingredients, the preaching of the gospel and conversion of the masses.

This book has been a long time coming. It consists of years of study, experience, prayer and devotion. We retained the services of a publisher for several thousand dollars but after four years and no proof or book we decided the message is more important than the money therefore we decided to absorb the loss and self publish a book that can and will be used of God to bring true revival hope and direction to a confused world. Every great revival begins with a groan. Today, many Christians desperately cry out to God, pleading for Him to send spiritual awakening. But there is a realm of effective prayer that can tip the heavenly prayer bowls to release the historic revival we all desire. Throughout church history, the great saints and revivalists knew...

According to an ABC Poll 83% of Americans identify themselves as Christians.. Of this .53 % are Protestants, 22% percent Catholic. 37%t of all Christians describe themselves as born-again or evangelical which includes nearly half of all Protestants (47 percent). However, we all need to ask: how viable is our faith? Do we just carry on traditions because of our upbringing or is our faith in Christ intensely personal and inspirational? Boredom should never be a feature of our lives- if we have experienced a born again encounter with God!.The Body of Christ-the church should be the living example of Christ on earth in holiness, love and compassion. If these traits are not evident, then we do need a fresh touch from God both personally and collectively. This is the the thrust of this book! To challenge and inspire the reader to examine his or her life and commit to all that Jesus demands so that He would restore and rekindle His love and grace within us. God wants to work through us and His church but we all have to bring our lives under His agenda and expectations. When this happens the Holy Spirit will 'explode" within us the Life of Christ and our spiritual awakening will have begun. Read pray-fully and apply His Word as you work though the chapters. Revival -Gods way is just 'around the corner.!" If our Christianity is dull and boring then we need to know that there is more-much more! Jesus came to give our lives meaning and purpose every day of our brief existence and not just for us to identify with a denomination or church. The life of Jesus Christ is meant to be invasive and pervasive, affecting every facet of the believers existence. We were destined to live a joyful. passionate-Spirit filled life -a quality of living that worldly wealth, sensual pleasure or personal ambitions falls by the wayside in comparison to the abundant life in Christ. Formality, passionate less praying and preaching are often the norm. Congregants sometimes attend out of duty and not because of a consuming desire to know the God of the Bible. For non church people or the spiritually insensitive to turn to the church -we first have to demonstrate a passion, love and intensity that flows out of our daily communion with Christ which will subsequently, outshine every aspiration of the non-believer, so they see and feel that we have much more than they do. For this to happen the church and individual christian must experience a spiritual renewal. Allow God to do a new work in you and in your your church-be available to Him, and say in your heart -" I WANT MORE! There is no second baptism but a complete turning to Christ, giving Him all our sins and personal ambitions and making Him absolute Lord! When that happens there will be a personal spiritual break- through and the Lord of glory will no longer be on the outside, knocking, pleading and begging to come in!This will transform our tastes and goals and affect the spiritually unconnected around us. The politicians and celebrities do not have the ultimate answers, as they themselves need a Savior, but even if everyone can attain the American Dream- there will still be a deep and empty feeling of not having personal peace and hope. Only Jesus Christ can meet the deepest need of the human race .The book is my take on where we are and how we can experience a mighty touch from God if wee seek Him ---His way!

Can God stir revival by his Holy Spirit, even in our culture today? Do we really believe he can? In a day of diminished expectations, A God-Sized Vision: Revival Accounts That Stretch and Stir recounts global examples of prior revivals, beginning with the Reformation and the Great Awakenings. It continues with the Welsh and Azusa Street revivals and those that occurred simultaneously in Asia, followed by the East Africa Revival of the 1930s. More recent revivals in North America that instigated parachurch or evangelistic ministries like those of Billy Graham and the revivals in China, particularly in Henan Province over the last forty years, give further evidence of church renewal. These stories enlarge our hearts, expand our minds, and empower our witness to the power of God at work in human history. Christians with a deep evangelistic commitment who realize that there is more to church growth than field-tested techniques will expand their vision by remembering God’s vision, as it has been revealed throughout history. Hansen and Woodbridge mine these stories of renewal to suggest how to get ready for revival today.
