There is little point in conserving an object if the storage conditions to which it is to be returned contributed to its deterioration. This book presents the full range of tests, for materials used in constructing storage and display areas, which are used at the British museum and describes standard procedures for carrying them out. The international workshop on conservation of East Asian cabinets in imperial residences (1700–1900) marked the starting point for the FWF-funded research project on the East Asian cabinets in Schönbrunn palace.
