Sparrow is a young Indian boy who lives in a small village near a lake. One day he decided that he would like to visit his cousin, Running Bear, who lived in the city. After obtaining permission from his parents and the chief of the tribe, he boarded a bus for the city. When he arrived he was shocked to see how the people had such little regard for their environment, marking up buildings and throwing refuse on the ground with vehicles that burped soot into the air. He soon tired of the conditions there and returned home, happy to breathe clean air, free of smog and the noise of the city.

Stranger Things meets Alfred Hitchcock in this haunting coming-of-age story about a plague that brings the world to a halt, and one boy's belief that his town's missing sparrows can save his family. In the small town of Griever's Mill, eleven-year-old Ben Cameron is expecting to finish off his summer of relaxing and bird-watching without a hitch. But everything goes wrong when dark clouds roll in. Old Man Crandall is the first to change -- human one minute and a glass statue the next. Soon it's happening across the world. Dark clouds fill the sky and, at random, people are turned into frozen versions of themselves. There's nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, and no one knows how to stop it. With his mom on the verge of a breakdown, and his brother intent on following the dubious plans put forth by a nameless voice on the radio, Ben must hold out hope that his town's missing sparrows will return with everyone's souls before the glass plague takes them away forever.

For the first time in more than a decade comes an out-of-print book from New York Times bestselling author Liliana Hart. "A heartbreaking, roller-coaster of a ride. A tale of cat and mouse that leaves the heart pounding and the senses reeling (Goodreads)." Nathan Locke has a very specific skill set, which is why he’s confused when Dynamis Security sends him on a mission to recruit an agent who doesn’t want to be found. Chasing her to hell and back doesn’t sound like his idea of a good time. Or maybe Alaska just seems like hell. Eden Kane works for no one but herself. Not even when the most elite security company in the world wants her. She’s racing against the clock to hunt down the man who taught her everything she knows—her husband—known as Proteus in the terrorist world. He’s the man she was deceived into loving. The man who put a bullet in her chest and left her to die alone. The search for Proteus leads to a discovery Eden and Nathan weren’t expecting, and thousands of lives are at stake. But trust doesn’t come easy, especially when you've been trained to lie as if your life depends on it.

A new edition of Philip Child’s great Canadian novel of the First World War. A horrifying description of war, specifically embodied in the vain and inglorious futility of the First World War, God’s Sparrows is a novel rich in compassion and firm in its faith in the human spirit. Philip Child created a Canadian family saga, a modern pilgrim’s progress in which individuals surmount the corrosive effects of brutality, maintaining their ability to love and endure under the most agonizing circumstances. His book, first published in 1937, remains as a stirring testimony to that ability. It offers profound insight into the experience of the First World War, not just as a catastrophe affecting his characters but as a crucible in which the whole of this nation found itself tried.

Sparrows in a Hurricane: One Family's Courage to Weather the Storm of Addiction and Mental Illness is a compelling and insightful memoir that demonstrates how children growing up with addicted and mentally ill parents can overcome obstacles and live productive and functional lives as adults. This story involves six Appalachian children who band together to survive and support one another through their parents' addiction and mental illness. The book illustrates how some of them escape the legacy of these diseases while others succumb to its grip.
