Sustainable Future Trends Strategies And Development

Since the first Earth Summit held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, many states have been looking for a new concept of economic and social progress. The environmental crises of the last years, as well as the global economic and financial crisis, require an even more profound shift in thinking - toward a policy committed to sustainability and intergenerational equity. But how can this goal be achieved? The publication for the Reinhard Mohn Prize 2013, "Winning Strategies for a Sustainable Future," presents pioneering approaches from different continents. Bhutan, Costa Rica, Finland, Ghana and Tasmania are examples that show sustainability is feasible. These principles also open up new perspectives for Germany. Today, we know that sustainability is the great challenge of the 21st century. The guiding principle of sustainable development implies taking economic, social and environmental concerns into account in a balanced manner. Our focus in this regard must be improving the quality of life for all people.

The book contains a selection of papers that were presented at the 3rd Conference in Managing Digital Industry, Technology and Entrepreneurship (3rd CoMDITE) with the theme: Sustainable Future: Trends, Strategies and Development. The Millennium Development Goals, continued as Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs), are effective instruments and have, in recent years, brought many positive changes in numerous countries around the world. Most notably, it has fundamentally changed our way of approaching the tangled set of challenges: States today undertake to achieve concrete development goals; transparency and accountability to citizens and the global public has become a matter of course; and cooperation between the political, economic and societal spheres is no longer questioned. However, in addition to the global pandemic situation it has challenged the business world to develop an outstanding strategy to face extreme uncertainty. Using digital technology and its advancement is believed to be one of the main keys for taking up this challenge. The 3rd Conference in Managing Digital Industry, Technology and Entrepreneurship (the 3rd CoMDITE) has brought forward discussions on implementation of digital technology in strategic, operation, finance, marketing, human resources management, and entrepreneurship around sustainable future issues. There is very little argument that the world is facing severe environmental challenges. Ongoing air and water pollution, increasing energy consumption, and the depletion of natural resources have all placed considerable stress on the capacity of our environment to support the present quality of human life in a sustainable manner. Ensuring a Sustainable Future does what few previous works have: it examines these trends' disproportionate impact on the poor and the economically viable solutions that can serve to remedy them -- solutions that simultaneously address environmental and economic problems. Sustainability entails addressing our demands without jeopardizing future generations' ability to meet their own needs. In September 2015, 193 United Nations Member States adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, as a universal call for action to eradicate poverty, safeguard the environment, and ensure that all people experience peace and prosperity by 2030. These 17 interconnected global goals and 169 targets will be tracked and reviewed using a set of global indicators that will serve as a "blueprint for achieving a better and more sustainable future for everybody." Strategies to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): A Road Map for Global Development contributes to the intellectual foundation that will enable students to become the engines that will propel and maintain society on the path of sustainability and sustainable development through the difficult process of change.
