Today more than ever Innovation and entrepreneurship skills are desired by both individuals starting out on new business endeavours and to employers. But there has always been an issue surrounding how to teach and learn these skills. Some universities offer degrees or other courses in these subjects, whilst others incorporate these topics in a variety of different degrees. But whatever approach the university takes these topics are quite challenging to teach, and also difficult to research. Courses and modules on these subjects are often quite theoretical and often they neither deliver the practical knowhow required nor do they inspire our students to become innovators or entrepreneurs. Fortunately, some good work is being done in this field in various parts of the world and this annual competition highlights such initiatives. The response this year to the 7th Teaching Innovation and Entrepreneurship Excellence Awards has reflected the innovative initiatives in place in many parts of the world. With 30 initial submissions, 20 competitors were invited to send in a full case history describing their initiative. The range of subjects written about in the case histories has certainly been extensive and the panel of reviewers had their job cut out for them to find the most interesting case histories and short list them to the finalists published in this anthology. 12 authors or groups of authors have been invited to present their work at the virtual European Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship supported by Università degli Studi Internazionali di Roma (UNINT). The topics which will be addressed are listed in the Contents page of this book. I would like to thank all the contributors to this book for the excellent work which has been done towards developing new and interesting ways of teaching Innovation and Entrepreneurship. And of course, it is also important to thank the individuals who constituted our panel of reviewers and expert judges.

Is it possible to teach someone to be an entrepreneur? Is innovation something that can be assessed and taught in a classroom? Teaching Innovation and Entrepreneurship answers these and other questions by focusing on a teaching experiment in Singapore at Nanyang Technological University, wherein classes of English-speaking Singaporeans and Mandarin-speaking students from the People's Republic of China were subjected to an 'entrepreneurial eco-system'. Extending from the west coast of the USA to Singapore and Shanghai, this programme subjects students to a wide range of activities, including a four-month business simulation game where teams of students select their favourite inventions and pitch them to real venture capitalists with the inventors present. Drawing on the lessons learned from this highly successful experiment, the book argues that not only is it possible to describe the innovative process, we can also teach it, measure it, evaluate it and model it.
