My name is Christina J Fox. I am from a typical Roman Catholic Irish family of ten, all of us together. I was born 1969 and now at 49 years, I have suffered from mental health problems, Epilepsy Psychosis. I have been very lucky to live with my identical twin who has cared very much for me. I used to work quite regular but my illness soon put a stop to that and have been on the sick for years. I don’t have much to say about myself apart from the fact that I’m epileptic psychosis and I love Art, the rest are in my five books that are painted and the obsessions you can see in my work. It is hard to put into words what mental illness is like. I hope through this book, which displayed all my artwork from past until the present, I will be able to show it to you. I always believe God created us with our own uniqueness that is worthy of sharing and now I am sharing the perfect imperfections of myself through My Art Diary.

This volume is a collection of texts and documents selected from and illustrating the history of Artpool, a non-profit artist run institution in Budapest, established in 1979 by György Galántai and Júlia Klaniczay and operating since 1992 under the name of Artpool Art Research Center. This book offers a truly interdisciplinary discussion on the relationship between the vocal and the instrumental in music and other arts and in everyday communication alike. Presenting an in-depth systematical and historical analysis of the evolution of word and gesture art, it gives extensive information on the anthropological, biological, and physiological influences and interactions in music and beyond. The book gives a unique definition of the genuinely vocal and instrumental from their generative deep structure: They derive from and are determined in their production by the duality of voice and hands, and in terms of product as the tone or ‘tonal’ on the one hand, and the percussive, that is noise plus rhythm, on the other. This book succeeds in bringing together perspectives from art, and from natural and social sciences, merging them to offer new explanations about the relationship between the vocal and instrumental, and eventually about the origins of music, arts, and language. It offers new perspectives on the intertwining between the vocal and the instrumental, specifically in the context of the expressions of human languages. At the same time, this book aims at clarifying and explaining the role of words and gestures in different contexts, such as society and communication, education, and arts.
