After the passing of the Act of Union in 1801, the Church of Ireland was united with the Church of England and a combined prayer book was published. This copy is from the reign of Queen Victoria and is the first Book of Common Prayer published since 1662 which does away with services for : celebration of the thwarting of the Gunpowder Plot ; the martyrdom of St Charles the Martyr ; thanksgiving for the accession of Charles II. This version of the Book of Common Prayer was authorised by Royal Warrant on January 17, 1859. The Table of Lessons is still unreformed in this prayer book.
