This book brings together the fruits of different traditions in legal philosophy and draws on them to develop a systematic thesis on the concept of law. The twenty-first century global world order creates fundamental challenges for the American model of legal education. This professional model cannot focus only on one domestic legal system isolated from the rest of the world. While the United States and Western Europe may have been the vanguard of abortion law reform in the latter half of the twentieth century, Central and South America are proving to be laboratories of thought and innovation in the twenty-first century, as are particular countries in Africa and Asia.
