Although the Apostle John endorses "Lamb" twenty-nine times in his Apocalypse and employs a term that is used only one other time in the New Testament to this end, this unique title and its sophisticated christological implications has only received cursory attention both historically and more recently. Even then, incomplete/monochromatic interpretations of the unique verbiage John employs to describe Christ are reached. After identifying this clearing that exists in the christological forest, this book reaches a robust understanding of Revelation's Lamb by means of a contextual-grammatical-canonical-historical hermeneutic. Ultimately, this monograph concludes that the apostle's use of Lamb throughout his Apocalypse promotes a multifaceted christological presentation of John's protagonist that is dependent on the paradoxical theme of glory in humility--a theme that is introduced when the Lamb first emerges in Revelation 5 and is then reiterated every time the title is used thereafter. In so doing, this work offers students and scholars alike a better understanding of who is coming in the end and what this means for the church at present.

At some point, every man or woman comes face-to-face with the brutal consequences of their own vanity, the crippling ridicule of their own insecurity—or both. But each are symptoms of the same cancer rooted within every human heart — pride Like the surgeon's scalpel, this short work cuts deeply, but offers the only true cure. Author Andrew Murray (1828-1917) was a South African pastor, exceptional Bible teacher, and prolific writer and thinker. His works have long been some of the greatest assets available to the Church, pointing generations of readers back to the Person and work of Jesus Himself. With penetrating insight and tender guidance, Murray reveals a clear path to Deep, abiding joy A far more robust spiritual life Freedom from self A lifestyle of practical holiness This book does not offer trite platitudes or feel-good clichés; when the disease runs deep, the cure must go deeper. Murray offers readers true healing for their malignant pride: Humility. "It is indeed blessed, the deep happiness of heaven, to be so free from self that whatever is said of us or done to us is lost and swallowed up, in the thought that Jesus is all."

Is humility a Christlike attribute that should be pursued? And even if it should be, can genuine humility actually be attained? Often so practical in application that it is overlooked, the answer is found by studying the life and words of Christ (whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your slave). This little book is a loud call to all committed Christians to prove that meekness and lowliness of heart is the evidence by which those who follow the meek and lowly Lamb of God are to be known. Never mind that your initial efforts will be misunderstood, taken advantage of, or even resisted. Instead, learn from the One who came not to be ministered unto, but to serve. For a Christian to be alive, for the life of Christ to reign in and through us, we must be empty of ourselves, exchanging our life for His life, our pride for true, Christlike humility.

The need to be rescued is somewhat about personal incompleteness and mostly about God, who desires to have loving communion with creation. Spiritual rescue follows a simple pattern: Messiah is lovingly sent to rescue; each has a tendency to fight against the Rescuer; personal humility is a statement of faithful surrender and the key to being found; the greatest journey of rescue is Jesus Messiah’s upper room to empty tomb victory over sin and death; now rescued, the individual’s only responsibility is to bear the Christ Who bears our wounds. Such is the journey to rescue. In The Humility of Being Found: A Journey To Rescue, Kevin B. Cain writes, “Please acknowledge deep within every soul there is division from and longing for communion with the One larger than ourselves and with brothers and sisters in the struggle of life. Every division requires rescue, and the eternal estrangement of people from the God Who loves them necessitates the greatest of rescues. And, so, whether we realize or not, each of us sets out on a journey to discover rescue. Thousands of years ago, Messiah did the same. God descended into a journey, not to be rescued, but to offer rescue. The apostle, Paul, says Messiah’s journey to rescue each of us can be summed up in three words: death, burial, and resurrection. Whether the individual’s journey to be rescued is active or passive, Jesus’ journey of death, burial, and resurrection has brought rescue to all. You are now being invited to enter thirty-six hours from my personal journal. In the pages that follow, you will read my chronicling of Jesus’ Upper Room to empty-tomb journey of rescue and my attempt, through vigil, to journey alongside creation’s Rescuer. In the written testimony of my journey to be rescued and my stumbling over the Messianic leaf of God’s rescue that follows, perhaps you too will stumble, welcome rescue, and rise.”

Who is Jesus Christ? You've never met Him in person, and you don't know anyone who has. But there is a way to know who he is. How? Jesus Christ - the divine Person revealed in the Bible - has a unique excellence and a spiritual beauty that speaks directly to our souls and says, "Yes, this is truth." It's like seeing the sun and knowing that it is light, or tasting honey and knowing that it is sweet. The depth and complexity of Jesus shatter our simple mental frameworks. He baffled proud scribes with his wisdom but was understood and loved by children. He calmed a raging storm with a word but would not get himself down from the cross. Look at the Jesus of the Bible. Keep your eyes open, and fill them with the portrait of Jesus in God's Word. Jesus said, "If anyone's will is to do God's will, He will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority." Ask God for the grace to do His will, and you will see the truth of His Son. John Piper has written this book in the hope that all will see Jesus for who he really is and will come to enjoy him above all else.
