The golden specter of El Dorado and its promises of unlimited wealth have haunted Western iconography for centuries. The Miraculous Lie: Lope de Aguirre and the Search for El Dorado in the Latin American Historical Novel is a fascinating study of five twentieth-century Latin American novels that focus on one particular search for El Dorado: the infamous 1559 expedition, headed by Pedro Ursua and the first legendary colonial rebel against the crown, Lope de Aguirre. Author Bart Lewis approaches five works--Arturo Uslar Pietri's El Camino de El Dorado, Abel Posses's Daim-n, Miguel Otero Silva's Lope de Aquirre, Pr'ncipe de la Libertad, Jorge Ernesto Funes's Una Lanza por Lope de Aguirre, and FZlix _lvarez SOenz's Cr-nica de Blasfemos--as representations of Latin American literature during the mid to late twentieth-century and as re-examinations of the notorious figure of Lope de Aguirre. Lewis is therefore able to provide not only a successful chronology of the stylistic development of the Latin American novel, but also a thoughtful analysis of how these novels appropriate Aguirre and give a revisionist and authentic voice to the Latin American cultural founder. Wonderfully engaging and beautifully written, The Miraculous Lie examines the search for El Dorado in modern Latin American literature as the search for self-determination.

This book recounts P. D. Ouspensky's first meeting and subsequent association with George Gurdjieff. It is widely regarded as perhaps the most comprehensive account of Gurdjieff's system of thought available. Many followers regard it as a "fundamental textbook" of Gurdjieff's teachings and it is often used as a means of introducing new students to Gurdjieff's system of self-development.

I was at the University College Hospital, Ibadan for residency training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from September of 1983 till August of 1985. While I was in England for my residency training, I sat and passed the membership examination of the Royal College Examination with distinction and had a gold medal viva at first attempt which was an uncommon feat in those days. I was employed as the Consultant and Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Burin Peninsular Health Center in 1993 before I left the hospital for the Royal University Hospital, University of Saskatchewan from 1994 to 1996 for the Canadian Fellowship Training as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist. SHINE FORTH WITH A FLOW OF THE MIRACULOUS! Why would a supernatural God build a supernatural Church and then expect it to function naturally? He wouldnt! God wants the gospel delivered and demonstrated by believers who live in a unique flow of the miraculous. In Releasing the Miraculous, author and pastor James Tan shares that the Holy Spirit infilling is really about God outpouring Himself through operations we call the nine gifts of the Spirit. In 1 Corinthians 12:7, the apostle Paul describes these gifts as manifestations of the Spirit, which in the Greek literally means a shining forth! Thats Gods plan for youto shine forth with the light of God in the same way electricity manifests in countless ways around you every day. To help you shine forth with Holy Spirit power, James covers A practical, scriptural study of each gift Sharpening your spiritual senses Yielding yourself to higher operations and leadings of the Spirit How your flow of tongues is your doorway to a flow of the supernatural Creating an environment where the gifts flourish No believer is gift-less! So yield yourself to the Spirit like never before because heaven is waiting on you to demonstrate the miraculous to the world!
