Nietzsche is undoubtedly one of the most original and influential thinkers in the history of philosophy. Few philosophers are as widely read or as widely misunderstood as Friedrich Nietzsche. This long overdue English translation of Karl Löwith's magisterial study is a major event in Nietzsche scholarship in the Anglo-American intellectual world.
