This series of books are a few entries from journals and memories of my life over the years. Every choice that we make in life has a consequence. The experiences of Life affects us all mentally. In the middle of the storm we often think that we are alone. On my Life Journey, looking for love and acceptance I found myself in a circle of abuse. Mentally, physically, sexually, emotionally. I have always considered Hamilton, Ohio home. It is were I was born, raised and been through a struggle, yet I still consider it home. I was that one child. That one child who, despite circumstances, pain and sorrow, have preservered and triumphed. While they may not be what you would call triumphs, they are still mine and that through it all - I stand tall and confident in who I am and I LOVE ME and all that I am. This is my story. And for all the time that a story was told about myself, this will shed the light on the truth from the beginning. Some will love it, some will like it and some will hate it and be angry - The truth tends to bring that out in folks. My story is to be an open and living testimony that no matter where you live, what circumstances you are born into, what trials you have gone through - YOU CAN MAKE IT! If you want to...life is bittersweet for me, I learned the hard way that only the strong will survive...life WILL kick you in the teeth - either you will stay down, cry and whine about it or get up, rinse out your mouth, put ice on it and keep it moving. This book is about the life of five black children who were raised in the ghetto and who were subjected to abusive hands. I can recall so many times I was beaten, but those that I'm sharing are some of the worst ones from my memory. Verbal and mental abuse was an everyday event. Three of us survived and are still alive today to tell the story. I hope that by sharing my story, I can help someone else. Please speak up if you suspect abuse; do not look the other way. It was a perfect example of how married woman manipulated in the name of love for the sole purpose of lust and a lifestyle of convenience . In the end, Caroline was just your typical gold digger who did not respect herself. She used many scandalous tactics to get what she wanted, when she wanted it and from whatever man she wanted it from. Cincinnati was her playground.

This book delves into a critical and comprehensive analysis of Mtukudzi’s legacy, as an outstanding musician who anchored his music on cultural identity specifically through the artistic manipulation of language. As a cultural worker, his remit extended beyond performance. This raised his stature to the levels of such African music icons as Fela Kuti of Nigeria, Salif Keita of Mali and Miriam Makeba/Hugh Masekela of South Africa, all towering giants in African musical performance. This volume examines how Mtukudzi artistically manipulated language to convey a timeless message of cultural identity, fighting for the respect of rights for women, children and all. It unpacks how Mtukudzi subtly uses language to put across political views that speak truth to power, harnessing Zimbabwean language to articulate and promote the nation’s cultural heritage and to advocate for societal development and the promotion of rights of vulnerable groups. The chapters in this volume are a mix of interdisciplinary Zimbabwean scholars of linguistics, performance studies, religion, history, communication and media studies, unravelling Mtukudzi as a fighter for human rights and justice who subtly critiqued political systems and practices. It concludes that Mtukudzi strove to be a cultural worker who used the power of language through music to contribute towards the rehabilitation of a battered African identity. ​
