Five teens embark on a summer of vigilante good samaritanism in a novel that's part The Breakfast Club, part The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks, and utterly captivating. Rising high school senior Sadie is bracing herself for a long, lonely, and boring summer. But things take an unexpected turn when she steps in to help rescue a baby in distress and a video of her good deed goes viral. Suddenly internet-famous, Sadie's summer changes for the better when she's introduced to other "hometown heroes." These five very different teens form an unlikely alliance to secretly right local wrongs, but when they try to help a heroin-using friend, they get in over their heads and discover that there might be truth in the saying "no good deed goes unpunished." Can Sadie and her new friends make it through the summer with their friendships--and anonymity--intact? This rich and thought-provoking novel takes on timely issues and timeless experiences with a winning combination of romance, humor, and wisdom.

What is it like to resuscitate a baby on the cusp of viability, to purposely induce hypothermia, to remove and replace twice a baby's blood volume within a few hours? How do you confront the turmoil of emotions when everything goes wrong? Every year half a million babies are admitted to neonatal intensive care units across the country, their stories and experiences largely hidden from view. With compassion and powerfully moving insight, neonatologist Benjamin Rattray takes readers behind closed doors to reveal heartbreaking realities, joyful and unexpected recoveries, and the often long, uncertain road of recovery encountered in newborn critical care. Captivating, beautifully written, and deeply personal, When All Becomes New shares a doctor's intimate reflections on life and medicine, the tension between faith and suffering, and how faith and hope can change the way we see the world.

The field of lexicography is undergoing a major revolution. The rapid replacement of the traditional paper dictionary by electronic dictionaries opens up exciting possibilities but also constitutes a major challenge to the field. The eLexicography in the 21st Century: New Challenges, New Applications conference organized by the Centre for English Corpus Linguistics of the Université catholique de Louvain in October 2009 aimed to bring together the many researchers around the world who are working in the fast developing field of electronic lexicography and to act as a showcase for the latest lexicographic developments and software solutions in the field. The conference attracted both academics and industrial partners from 30 different countries who presented electronic dictionary projects dealing with no less than 22 languages. The resulting proceedings volume bears witness to the tremendous vitality and diversity of research in the field. The volume covers a wide range span of topics, including: -the use of language resources for lexicographic purposes, in the form of lexical databases like WordNet or corpora of different types - innovative changes to the dictionary structure afforded by the electronic medium, in particular multiple access routes and efficient integration of phraseology -specialised dictionaries (e.g. SMS dictionaries, sign language dictionaries) -automated customisation of dictionaries in function of users' needs -exploitation of Natural Language Processing tools - integration of electronic dictionaries into language learning and teaching

The Executioner descends on California to destroy the West Coast syndicate once and for all Yesterday Mack Bolan was in Louisville, dismantling the midwestern crime syndicate drop by bloody drop. The next stop on his six-day rampage is California, where ambitious gangsters have pooled their resources to form a last-ditch coalition known as the California Concept. The Executioner arrives on Tuesday. His intent is to have destroyed the criminal empire by Wednesday. Bolan starts his battle by rescuing the daughter of a midlevel boss and using her father’s influence to get close to the local mob. The criminal syndicate of California is far healthier than he realized, and its leaders are on the verge of pioneering a high-tech brand of organized crime that could upend life across the United States. It would take the police years to unravel this conspiracy, but Bolan has no time to waste. The killing starts now. Terrible Tuesday is the 34th book in the Executioner series, but you may enjoy reading the series in any order.

This New York Times bestseller is for anyone who has ever faced intense obstacles. It's for anyone who has ever been doubted. It's for anyone who has ever dreamed great ambition. And it's for all those who want to continue building a greater tomorrow. Lord knows, Rev. Al has had his personal and very public ups and downs—but he's come out bigger and better than ever. Though the host of MSNBC's PoliticsNation is as fiery and outspoken as ever about the events and issues that matter most, he's learned that the only way we can get right as a nation is by getting right from within. In this, his first book in over a decade, Rev. Al will take you behind the scenes of some unexpected places—from officiating Michael Jackson's funeral, to hanging out with Jay-Z and President Barack Obama at the White House, to taking charge of the Trayvon Martin case. And he will discuss how he came to his unexpected conclusions in such areas as immigration, gay rights, religion, and the family. But the heart of the book is an intimate discussion of his own personal evolution from street activist, pulpit provocateur, and civil rights leader to the man he is today—one hundred pounds slimmer, and according to theNew York Observer, “the most thoughtful voice on cable.” No, the Rev. Al you met ten years ago isn't the same man you'll meet today. And he has a simple promise. We can transform this nation and we can all lead better lives if we're willing to transform our hearts and transform our minds. “I hope when you put down this book, that you don't see Al Sharpton differently, but that you instead see yourself differently.” —Rev. Al Sharpton
