Two thousand years ago Jesus called a small band of disciples to leave their nets and follow him. He gave them a teaching and a path of initiation, only fragments of which are found in the New Testament. This path is as real and vital today as it was in Jesus' time. And now, at the turning of an age, the ascended master Jesus calls those who would be his disciples to take up that path, to walk and work with him again. Twenty-eight steps on that path are presented here, with commentary and explanation by Elizabeth Clare Prophet and the staff of Summit Uiversity. The goal is to find and externalize the Christ within. The means is a practical path of initiation for the modern world.

"With the Master Before the Mirror of God's Word is a women's Bible Study on 1st John. The book of First John is a letter of self-examination to see if you are in the faith and living the example of the life of Christ. 1 John 2:1: ""My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous (1 John 2:1). The tone is tender in this book as the Apostle John expresses love and concern to his readers, using that phrase, ""little children"" seven times. As we look in the mirror of God's Word we are to examine our hearts closely and we will see that we need to change!"

A simple, imaginative story depicting the complex emotional reality of a girl whose father no longer lives at home. The girl conjures up an imaginary companion — a lion — who will join her on the long walk home from school. He will help her to pick up her baby brother from daycare and shop at the store (which has cut off the family’s credit), and he’ll keep her company all along the way until she is safely home. He will always come back when she needs him, unlike her father whom she sees only in a photograph — a photograph in which he clearly resembles a lion.

In ?Walking with the Master?, John reveals Jesus through His teachings and His conversations with the people around Him. Jesus consistently points towards a reality that extends far beyond what we can see, touch, feel, or even imagine; a reality that reaches unto eternity. He poses the questions: What is our world view? How are we investing our lives? Are we part of the world that says we only live once, so enjoy it? Or do we believe that there is more, much more? Jesus, the author of life itself, came to prove to us by word and deed that there is more to life than is apparent to the senses. He implores us to make an informed choice: a choice to believe, a choice to follow Him. Within these lessons, we will come to understand who Jesus is and why John described Him as the Word become Flesh. We will see Jesus talking to Nicodemus as He explains the awesome mystery of salvation. Jesus will reveal how He is the Bread of Life and the Good Shepherd. He will miraculously prove that He is the Resurrection and the Life. As the True Vine He calls us to committed discipleship and to a life and purpose that we cannot achieve in our own strength. He invites us to a personal relationship with Himself, now and forever.

The first time Eliza sees Wah Chung, he is squatting beside some rocks on the pathway to her island. Eliza's island is the one on which the lighthouse -- operated and maintained by her father -- stands, sending its beacon of safety to ships at sea. The pathway to the island is a treacherous one, engulfed by water when the tide is high, passable only when the tide is low and reveals the secret life of the sea on the rocks and in the pools that remain. Although Eliza is careful to avoid Wah Chung as he paints among the rocks (after all, he is a Chinaman), when a "sneaker wave" approaches the passage, it is Wah Chung who warns her and then rescues Eliza's goat, Parthenia, before both are swept away. It is a simple act of kindness, but one that causes Eliza to doubt many things. Are the Celestials, as the Chinese immigrants are called, such a threat to their small town? Are they really heathens, as her father claims? And what should she do when the townspeople conspire to expel these people forcibly? How will Eliza act, in the face of her father's strong beliefs and his duties as the lighthouse keeper, when Wah Chung comes to her for help in return?
