Welcome to Doxieville! Meet Deuce and Diesel as they lead the dachshund pack on adventures. Deuce is reckless, but fun-loving. Diesel is very responsible, and the biggest and strongest dog in Doxieville. Together, the doxies learn that handicaps should never hold them back in life, and they should pursue their dreams. They also learn how to count, make friends, and deal with bullies. All of the dogs in Doxieville are based on real dogs owned by the book's creators, Darrin and Trudi Martin.

The leaves are falling and there is a chill in the air, which means Halloween is coming to Doxieville very soon. The doxies can't wait to go trick-or-treating, but there is one spooky house they always steer clear of. Miss Lucy is an elderly lady who keeps to herself and never speaks to anyone. She lives in an old, run-down house that is known for its spooky activity. When Miss Dixie suggests that the doxies make friends with Miss Lucy, they are surprised to discover that the spooky house isn't what it appears to be. The doxies learn that sometimes first impressions can be wrong, and that making an effort to be friendly and kind can change things in a very big way. They also learn that friendship does not have an age limit, and older people can have plenty of love to give and a lifetime of stories to share.
