This book is a compilation of the recent technologies and innovations in the field of automotive embedded systems with a special mention to the role of Internet of Things in automotive systems. The book provides easy interpretable explanations for the key technologies involved in automotive embedded systems. The authors illustrate various diagnostics over internet protocol and over-the-air update process, present advanced driver assistance systems, discuss various cyber security issues involved in connected cars, and provide necessary information about Autosar and Misra coding standards. This book constitutes refereed proceedings of the Workshops of the 16th European Dependable Computing Conference, EDCC: ​1st Workshop on Articial Intelligence for Railways, AI4RAILS 2020, 1st Worskhop on Dynamic Risk Management for Autonomous Systems, DREAMS 2020, 2nd Workshop on Dependable Solutions for Intelligent Electricity Distribution Grids, DSOGRI 2020, 12th Workshop on Software Engineering for Resilient Systems, SERENE 2020, held in September 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the workshops were held virtually. The 12 full papers and 4 short papers were thoroughly reviewed and selected from 35 submissions. The workshop papers complement the main conference topics by addressing dependability or security issues in specic application domains or by focussing in specialized topics, such as system resilience.

This two-volume set (LNAI 11683 and LNAI 11684) constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Computational Collective Intelligence, ICCCI 2019, held in Hendaye France, in September 2019.The 117 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 200 submissions. The papers are grouped in topical sections on: computational collective intelligence and natural language processing; machine learning in real-world data; distributed collective intelligence for smart manufacturing; collective intelligence for science and technology; intelligent management information systems; intelligent sustainable smart cities; new trends and challenges in education: the university 4.0; intelligent processing of multimedia in web systems; and big data streaming, applications and security.

The main topics of this book include advanced control, cognitive data processing, high performance computing, functional safety, and comprehensive validation. These topics are seen as technological bricks to drive forward automated driving. The current state of the art of automated vehicle research, development and innovation is given. The book also addresses industry-driven roadmaps for major new technology advances as well as collaborative European initiatives supporting the evolvement of automated driving. Various examples highlight the state of development of automated driving as well as the way forward. Although tremendous progress has been made in Artificial Intelligence (AI), it entails new challenges. The growing complexity of learning tasks requires more complex AI components, which increasingly exhibit unreliable behaviour.
