Cries of a Wounded Heart were written under the instructions of the Holy Spirit during her devotional time. Bloneva was prompt to carry a pen and piece of paper with her at all times. Over a course of years many manuscripts were written and copyrighted. The Holy Spirit gave Bloneva three specific titles for each manuscript. Cries of a Wounded Heart have received two awards and three poems published. Bloneva says Intimacy with God enabled me to stand in the gap for otherspresenting the wounds of the heart to the Father is an honor and blessing. Cries of a Wounded Heart expresses what many of us think but is afraid to say aloud.

Travis concludes by linking this history to twenty-first-century preoccupations with "pain-centered politics," which, she cautions, too often focuses only on women and racial minorities.
