To aid in quick identification and easy location of specific technical data and information in the various reports and memoranda which have been prepared and distributed by the Defense Metals Information Center, as well as by DMIC's forerunner, the Titanium Metallurgical Laboratory, a classification by major subject matter was prepared. The memorandum presents the definitions of temper designations. It is organized into three parts: (1) temper designation (alphanumeric), (2) temper, by metallurgical term, (3) tempers by base material. This memorandum, in conjunction with Memorandum 232, 'Designations of Alloys for the Aerospace Industry' provide a ready reference for any given combination of alloy and temper designations. (Author).
