What is the ultimate test of love? Getting pregnant with a stranger’s child to see if the man you’re being forced into an arranged marriage with, accepts you or not. Or sacrificing your self respect at the altar of neurotic behaviour to see if that one person reciprocates your love inspite of your glaring physical flaws. Or pursuing a long lost crush just before they are about to get married to see if the past can be veered into a new future against all odds. As Alia, Shahid and Mehak go down a dark road searching and testing for love, Fate simply reflects their twisted ways by weaving their lives into an inextricable tangle. Little do they know that beyond all that complexity, their journey would transform into one of self-discovery.

Big Data Mining for Climate Change addresses how to manage the vast amount of information available for analysis. Climate change and its environmental, economic and social consequences are widely recognized as the biggest, most interconnected problem facing humanity. There is a huge amount of potential information currently available...and it is growing exponentially. This book walks through the latest research and how to navigate the resources available using big data applications. It is appropriate for scientists and advanced students studying climate change from a number of disciplines, including the atmospheric sciences, oceanic sciences, geography, environment sciences, ecology, energy, economics, engineering and public policy. Provides a step-by-step guide for applying big data mining tools to climate and environmental research Presents a comprehensive review of theory and algorithms of big data mining for climate change Includes current research in climate and environmental science as it relates to using big data algorithms

A fixture is described for making normal-pressure tests of flat plates 5 inches in diameter in which particular care was taken to obtain rigid clamping at the edges. Results are give for 19 plates, ranging in thickness from 0.015 to 0.072 inch. The center deflections and the extreme-fiber stresses at low pressures were found to agree with theoretical values; the center deflections at high pressures were 4 to 12 percent greater than the theoretical values. Empirical curves are derived of the pressure for the beginning of permanent set as a function of the dimensions of the plate and the tensile properties of the material.

The last decade has seen a substantial increase in commodity computer and network performance. Increasingly, computing addresses collaboration, cycle and data sharing and other modes of interaction involving distributed resources. Grid computing is an emerging technology that enables large-scale sharing of widely distributed resources and coordinated problem-solving and collaboration between groups of scientists. Riding on the success of the first two workshops, this yearOCOs workshop continues the tradition of providing a useful forum for discussion among researchers, developers and users of grid computing from academia, business and industry. This volume is a collection of the international contributions presented at the workshop, with a focus on grid computing and its applications in science and engineering."

Henry O. Pollak Chairman of the International Program Committee Bell Laboratories Murray Hill, New Jersey, USA The Fourth International Congress on Mathematics Education was held in Berkeley, California, USA, August 10-16, 1980. Previous Congresses were held in Lyons in 1969, Exeter in 1972, and Karlsruhe in 1976. Attendance at Berkeley was about 1800 full and 500 associate members from about 90 countries; at least half of these come from outside of North America. About 450 persons participated in the program either as speakers or as presiders; approximately 40 percent of these came from the U.S. or Canada. There were four plenary addresses; they were delivered by Hans Freudenthal on major problems of mathematics education, Hermina Sinclair on the relationship between the learning of language and of mathematics, Seymour Papert on the computer as carrier of mathematical culture, and Hua Loo-Keng on popularising and applying mathematical methods. Gearge Polya was the honorary president of the Congress; illness prevented his planned attendence but he sent a brief presentation entitled, "Mathematics Improves the Mind". There was a full program of speakers, panelists, debates, miniconferences, and meetings of working and study groups. In addition, 18 major projects from around the world were invited to make presentations, and various groups representing special areas of concern had the opportunity to meet and to plan their future activities.

The new 6th edition of Applied Combinatorics builds on the previous editions with more in depth analysis of computer systems in order to help develop proficiency in basic discrete math problem solving. As one of the most widely used books in combinatorial problems, this edition explains how to reason and model combinatorically while stressing the systematic analysis of different possibilities, exploration of the logical structure of a problem, and ingenuity. Although important uses of combinatorics in computer science, operations research, and finite probability are mentioned, these applications are often used solely for motivation. Numerical examples involving the same concepts use more interesting settings such as poker probabilities or logical games.

What on earth do bananas have to do with quantum mechanics? From a modern perspective, quantum mechanics is about strangely counterintuitive correlations between separated systems, which can be exploited in feats like quantum teleportation, unbreakable cryptographic schemes, and computers with enormously enhanced computing power. Schro'dinger coined the term "entanglement" to describe these bizarre correlations. Bananaworld -- an imaginary island with "entangled" bananas -- brings to life the fascinating discoveries of the new field of quantum information without the mathematical machinery of quantum mechanics. The connection with quantum correlations is fully explained in sections written for the non-physicist reader with a serious interest in understanding the mysteries of the quantum world. The result is a subversive but entertaining book that is accessible and interesting to a wide range of readers, with the novel thesis that quantum mechanics is about the structure of information. What we have discovered is that the possibilities for representing, manipulating, and communicating information are very different than we thought.
