Proceedings of meeting held in Anchorage, Alaska, April 28-30, 1981. Purpose to describe marine and coastal environments of St. George Basin lease area in Bering Sea and to discuss and record environmental issues of concern and environmental consequences of the proposed offshore oil and gas development. Sections include: transport and fate of spilled oil, environmental hazards to petroleum industry development, marine mammals, marine birds, finfish resources, and shellfish resources. An OCSEAP synthesis report.

Presents and evaluates available environmental data - transport and fate of pollutants, environmental hazards, biota and their food resources, and socioeconomic issues - related to potential offshore petroleum development in Barrow Arch planning area. Contains information presented at first Barrow Arch Synthesis Meeting held in Girdwood, Alaska, October 31- November 2, 1983.

Attempt to synthesize knowledge of the Norton Sound region of Alaska and determine need for further study of possible effects of petroleum and natural gas extraction.
