If I want to become a Buddha or a Dragon Elephant, I'll have to become an ox or a horse, a mortal at the ninth level, and be reborn; I'll take the Nine Transformation of Spirit and fight for my life with the heavens; if I step into the Spirit Sea, then I can transcend the five elements of heaven and earth. A chess piece could point to the rivers and mountains, a chess piece could contain the heavens of all worlds, a chess piece could bring down countless stars, and within the chess board, there would be a chess game, and within the chess piece, there would be heaven and earth.

Introduction Rebirth is the story of survival in a world dominated by predator civilizations fighting for existence in a realm created from the shambling remnants of mankind. Rebirth is a dark-fantasy RPG that features a d100 percentile system and takes place in a setting reminiscent of the middle ages. Lore 275 years after the end of the world, the land of Kreyo stands divided by seven war-torn nations. Each nation falls under the rule of one of seven great necromancers. The seven who brought a dying mankind to its end. The seven who poured demonic power and new life into its husk. Sar'gon the Diplomat, Nahrun the Student, Narcon the Inventor, Reuce the Surgeon, Kre'uul the Murderer, Daerrus the Master, and Fae'el the God. Each nation is represented by their own culture, a reflection of their necromancer's reason for betraying humanity. The corpse of humanity rose as the demonic power coursed through their veins, reanimated and reborn in the image of the mankind they replaced. The reborn of Kreyo appear no different than man, except for the mark of their necromancer scarred into their right hand. Cursed with the free will of their predecessors, the reborn fight for survival, glory, fame, riches, power, or whatever they desire. Free from the bonds of sleep, the reborn are not controlled by the waning of the day, though they are not free of the burden of required nourishment. Playing the Game Rebirth is a tabletop role-playing game determined to grant diversity to the players, allowing them to navigate a broken world. With 14 base professions and 24 advanced professions, Rebirth rewards diversity in party creation, shedding light on often forgotten roles, such as support and crafting, making them almost essential to the party's survival, and breathing new life into the ever-present fighters and charismatic manipulators of the role playing genre. The setting is a dark world, constantly at war both on the bloodstained battlefield and behind the political curtain. The theme of the game is resource management and is displayed through the combat, currency, and crafting systems, rewarding forethought and preparation. Teamwork and flexibility are integral to survival in Rebirth and one of the major appeals of the game. Mastering synergies between professions can be the difference between life and death. The gladiator, a melee based fighting profession, becomes exponentially stronger when supported by a prophet, a support profession that deals self-inflicted damage to drastically increase the abilities of their allies. The gladiator becomes even stronger when using powerful artifacts, weapons imbued with special abilities such as life stealing attacks, created by the artificer, a crafting profession focused on the creation of artifacts. Unique and in-depth professions allow for complicated synergies between party members. Review "Absolutely love it. The book is about 50/50 lore and crunch, which works very well to paint the picture of the setting without "Telling you" everything that's going on in the world verbatim. It leaves much very open for the players in a way I really enjoy. A solid framework without hand holding too much." - Nicholas Baughman Additional Information For further information, free additional content, and GM support, including downloadable characters, NPCs, and campaigns, check out our website at RebirthRoleplaying.com For updates and sneak peeks, follow us on Twitter and Facebook. https://www.twitter.com/roleplayrebirth/ https://www.facebook.com/RPGRebirth/ If you have any questions, we will help in anyway we can. "For the first time ever, Westerners can enjoy one of the traditional Tibetan pastimes-the game of Rebirth. This authentic Tibetan board game depicts the Buddhist map of the universe in a scheme of 104 squares. Each square represents a stage of enlightenment and, with each roll of the die, one progresses toward nirvana, afloat among gods of delight, or descends to one of many hellish states, such as that of the realm of hungry ghosts with necks the size of a pin, bellies as big as hills, and in whose mouths food turns to fire. Rebirth was invented in the thirteenth century by the great Sanskrit scholar Sakya pandita Kunga Gyaltsen ("Whose Banner Is Total Joy'); it came to be regarded as an educational game, teaching children the Buddhist religious philosophy while providing entertainment for adults and a means of determining present states of consciousness and future patterns of rebirth. The modern reader may use the game as either an instructive pastime, or as a form of divination similar to that offered by the I Ching. This version is presented with an introduction, complete instructions for playing the game, commentary for each of the 104 squares, and a full-color poster- size tanka gameboard which-drawn in accord with ritual iconography-may be used for worship and meditation." --

A major work destined to change how scholars and students look at television and animation With the release of author Thomas Lamarre’s field-defining study The Anime Machine, critics established Lamarre as a leading voice in the field of Japanese animation. He now returns with The Anime Ecology, broadening his insights to give a complete account of anime’s relationship to television while placing it within important historical and global frameworks. Lamarre takes advantage of the overlaps between television, anime, and new media—from console games and video to iOS games and streaming—to show how animation helps us think through television in the contemporary moment. He offers remarkable close readings of individual anime while demonstrating how infrastructures and platforms have transformed anime into emergent media (such as social media and transmedia) and launched it worldwide. Thoughtful, thorough illustrations plus exhaustive research and an impressive scope make The Anime Ecology at once an essential reference book, a valuable resource for scholars, and a foundational textbook for students.
