Willie Lynch, a British slave owner from the West Indies, stepped onto the shores of colonial Virginia in 1712, bearing secrets that would shape the fate of generations to come. Within this manuscript, allegedly transcribed from Lynch’s speech to American slaveholders on the banks of the James River, lies a blueprint for subjugation. Lynch’s genius lay not in brute force but in psychological warfare. He understood that to break a people, one must first break their spirit. His methods—pitiless and cunning—sowed seeds of distrust, pitting slave against slave, exploiting vulnerabilities, and perpetuating a cycle of suffering. This document sheds light on the brutal realities of slavery and the ways in which its legacy continues to shape contemporary society

Reversing, Willie Lynch’s (a white slave owner from Jamaica) prescribed methodology for making an ideal slave, outlined in the manual he gave to white slave owners in 1712, on the banks of the James River, (Jamestown Virginia), titled, “Let’s Make A Slave,” is the motive for me writing this treaties. There usually is more than one reason why we succeed at our individual as well as collective goals. Likewise, there are several factors involved in our struggles. Therefore, this small book is not meant to be a cure all for what ails our family and community (African Americans). It is a partial solution to what I believe to be the primary cause of our difficulties, namely, the ramenets of the traumatic experience of four-hundred years of enslavement here in America, that have been passed down through our DNA. This Treaties is meant to address what has been too long ignored concerning why there is an epidemic of violence, addiction, sucide and crime in our homes and community. Our community is not only being devastated by these social-ills, but the gains we have made over the last hundred years through sacrifice and protests, are also being decimated. (dec·i·mate /desmt/ verb 1. Kill, destroy, or remove a large percentage or part of. "the project would decimate the fragile wetland wilderness" 2. HISTORICAL kills one in every ten of (a group of soldiers or others) as a punishment for the whole group. "the man who is to determine whether it be necessary to decimate a large body of mutineers''). I note the definition of ‘decimate’ because I want to emphasize the point that we are literally dying by the tens-of-thousands at both our own hands as well as at those of police officers, who deem Black lives as expendable.

The Willie Lynch letter purports to be a verbatim account of a short speech given by a slave owner, in which he tells other slave masters that he has discovered the "secret" to controlling black slaves by setting them against one another. The document has been in print since at least 1970, but first gained widespread notice in the 1990s, when it appeared on the Internet. Since then, it has often been promoted as an authentic account of slavery during the 18th century, though its inaccuracies and anachronisms have led historians to conclude that it is a hoax.

The Willie Lynch Letter and the Making of a Slave is a study of slave making. It discribes the rationale and the results of Anglo Saxon's ideas and methods of insuring the master/slave relationship. The infamous Willie Lynch letter gives both African and Caucasian students and teachers some insight, concerning the brutal and inhumane psychology behind the African slave trade. The materialistic viewpoint of Southern plantation owners that slaver was a business and the victims of chattel slavery were merely pawns in an economic game of debauchery, cross-breeding, inter-racial rape and mental conditioning of a negroid race, they considered sub-human. Equally important is the international nature of the European economic, political and cultural climate that influenced the slave trade. Within the time scale of African History, it was a relatively short period, a mere one and a half centuries from the most intensive phase of the Atlantic slave trade to the advent of European administration and dominance. Long before that the Slave Coast had been chartered by the Portuguese and the people off the area west of Benin, between the volta River and Lagos, European traders traced a cultural history which linked them with the earliest Yoruba settlements to the north and eastern borders of Africa.

This historic work contains two books in one. The first is The Willie Lynch Letter: The Making of a Slave, from a speech delivered by Willie Lynch on the bank of the James River in the colony of Virginia in 1712. Lynch, a British slave owner in the West Indies, was invited to Virginia to teach his methods of molding a slave to plantation owners. This work shows the gruesome and harsh way slave owners adopted in breaking Black people physically and more importantly psychologically and emotionally. The second book, Southern Horrors: Lynch Law in all its Phases, is a pamphlet published by journalist Ida B. Wells in 1892. Wells was one of the founders of the NAACP and spent her lifetime combating prejudice and violence committed against African-Americans. In this pamphlet, she exposes the barbaric practice of whites in the south, many acts similar to what is outlined in the Willie Lynch letters. These two works compliment each other perfectly to show the inhumane cruelty of chattel slavery in America. --back.
