Heaven visitations are all the rage today. A retelling of the sights, sounds, and smells of a supposed trip to Heaven can land an author at the top of the bestseller list and produce enough speaking engagements, morning television appearances, news segments, and interviews on Christian TV and radio to keep him at the top of the bestseller list for quite some time. In this book, author and pastor Jim Osman of Kootenai Community Church examines the claims of Heaven Tourists: Don Piper (90 Minutes in Heaven), Colton and Todd Burpo (Heaven Is for Real) and Eben Alexander (Proof of Heaven). Pastor Osman offers a critical theological critique of their writings and media appearances, comparing their claims to Scripture and to each other. He also examines their stories for internal consistency. He shows that these "eye-witness" testimonies of Heaven are not only self contradictory, but more importantly, they contradict Scripture. Pastor Osman calls upon faithful Christians everywhere to reject these cleverly devised fables and affirm their commitment to the sufficiency of Scripture as God's infallible and final revelation. This book will equip you to expose the errors of the Heaven Tourism industry and to defend the truth of Scripture. By providing critical theological reviews of these three bestsellers, this book helps expose the errors made by ALL those who claim to have visited Heaven. Chapter headings are as follows: Introduction Chapter 1 - A Critical Theological Review of Don Piper's Book 90 Minutes in Heaven Chapter 2 - A Critical Theological Review of Todd Burpo's Book Heaven Is for Real Chapter 3 - A Critical Theological Review of Eben Alexander's Book Proof of Heaven Chapter 4 - Conclusion: The Problems with Heaven Tourism Chapter 5 - Do You Know the True Gospel? About the Author All the proceeds from the sale of this book go to the Kootenai Community Church building fund. Since earliest times, humanity has pondered the incomprehensible mysteries of the universe, life...and the afterlife. In The Stairway to Heaven, the second book of Zecharia Sitchin's Earth Chronicles series, the author answers these fundamental questions: Was there somewhere on Earth where, after death, mortal man could join the immortal Gods? Where was this place? By whom was it established? And does it still exist today? After years of painstaking research--combining recent archaeological discoveries with ancient texts and artifacts--Sitchin has identified the legendary Land of the Gods, and provided astounding new revelations about the Great Pyramids, the Sphinx, and other mysterious monuments whose true meanings and purposes have been lost for eons. The Earth Chronicles deal with the history and prehistory of Earth and humankind. Each book in the series is based upon information written on clay tablets by the ancient civilizations of the Near East. For the first time, the entire Earth Chronicles series is now available in a hardcover collector's edition.

The idea of heavenly ascent, while popularized in Jewish mysticism, is neither a unique nor recent one. Expertly tracing its origins back to the ancient Middle East, Levenda unearths ascent literature in Africa, India, and China, discerns a common connection in the heavens themselves, and determines that this connection has been sorely neglected in contemporary scholarship. Because scholars treat the "heavens" as metaphorical, it is necessary to recreate the physical context of the culture under discussion in order to better understand it. For the benefit of the reader, Levenda offers two useful concepts for his investigative journey: a "map," whereby he means the cosmological system to better understand the mystical technologies of each culture investigated, and a "vehicle," the method by which the individual equipped with special knowledge is able to navigate the culture's particular cosmology. With these two tools, Levenda travels from the worlds of ancient Egypt and Babylon to the Hebrew Bible, to Jewish and Christian kabbalists, to Daoists in ancient China, to Hindu Tantra and Haitian Vodoun, and, finally, to nineteenth and twentieth century European occult societies.

The relationship between popular music and consumer brands has never been so cosy. Product placement abounds in music videos, popular music provides the soundtrack to countless commercials, social media platforms offer musicians tools for perpetual promotion, and corporate-sponsored competitions lure aspiring musicians to vie for exposure. Activities that once attracted charges of 'selling out' are now considered savvy, or even ordinary, strategies for artists to be heard and make a living. What forces have encouraged musicians to become willing partners of consumer brands? At what cost? And how do changes in popular music culture reflect broader trends of commercialization? Selling Out traces the evolution of 'selling out' debates in popular music culture and considers what might be lost when the boundary between culture and commerce is dismissed as a relic.

A memoir about loss and hope. Drugs and alcohol, sexual abuse and neglect tainted Kate and made her crazy through her teenage years boozing, drugging and flipping from one relationship to the next. Adulthood was even worse. Her pain is evident through the telling of some hard stuff. But she does it with both a grace and a self-depravation that labels this dark memoir a true gem.
