The 2nd Dubai International Conference In Higher Education

Last year, the Dubai International Conference in Higher Education considered the global challenge of sustaining success in higher education. This year, we posed the question: ‘How do universities combine rigour with relevance?’ Once again we have invited all those involved in the higher education community to come together to share insights related to the provision of education that is rigorous and at the same time relevant. The three key premises of the conference are these: 1. Higher education institutions must demonstrate their relevance to the needs of the workforce in a landscape of constant and rapid economic and social change. 2. They must maintain the rigorous academic standards that are the hallmark of a quality institution. 3. With the accelerating power and reach of the web, universities must meet unprecedented challenges as technological innovation disrupts their traditional business model. Unless individual universities prove that they are capable of adapting successfully in the face of these three pressures, their futures may be uncertain.

This book sheds light on the recent research directions in intelligent systems and their applications. It involves two main themes, including management information systems and advances in information security and networking. The discussion of the most recent designs, advancements, and modifications of intelligent systems, as well as their applications, is a key component of the chapters contributed to the aforementioned subjects.

This book summarizes the research findings presented at the 2nd International Conference on Novel & Intelligent Digital Systems (NiDS 2022). NiDS 2022 was implemented virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions, on September 29-30, 2022, under the auspices of the Institute of Intelligent Systems. NiDS lays special emphasis on the novelties of intelligent systems and on the interdisciplinary research which enables, supports, and enhances artificial intelligence (AI) in software development. It promotes high-quality research, creating a forum for the exploration of challenges and new advances in AI, and addresses experts, researchers, and scholars in the fields of artificial and computational intelligence in systems and in computer sciences in general, enabling them to learn more about pertinent, strongly related, and mutually complementary fields. The conference promotes an exchange of ideas, reinforcing and expanding the network of researchers, academics, and market representatives.

The book comprises papers presented at the 7th International Conference on University Learning and Teaching (InCULT) 2014, which was hosted by the Asian Centre for Research on University Learning and Teaching (ACRULeT) located at the Faculty of Education, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam, Malaysia. It was co-hosted by the University of Hertfordshire, UK; the University of South Australia; the University of Ohio, USA; Taylor’s University, Malaysia and the Training Academy for Higher Education (AKEPT), Ministry of Education, Malaysia. A total of 165 papers were presented by speakers from around the world based on the theme “Educate to Innovate in the 21st Century.” The papers in this timely book cover the latest developments, issues and concerns in the field of teaching and learning and provide a valuable reference resource on university teaching and learning for lecturers, educators, researchers and policy makers.
